Night of Shosho: The sound of insects rings high, a bead of sweat trickles down
Starting today, according to the twenty-four solar terms, it is "Shosho" (Limit of Heat).
On the calendar, this is the time when the heat begins to subside.
……That said, the extreme heat has continued for the past few days, and there is no sign of that at all.
Even tonight, as night falls, the air remains thick and humid.
Even so—the voices of the insects alone are ringing out, unusually high and clear.
Autumn is certainly moving forward.
The moment I thought that, a bead of sweat trickled down my forehead as I walked.
My dog is also panting with its mouth open,
and together, we walk along the road where the heat still lingers.
