|Wild geese| arrive late,
|Flocks of sparrows| become |clams|,
|Yellow chrysanthemums| |bloom|.
Entering the ninth month, the |yin energy| |increases|, and the falling |dew| is |cold|. Therefore, it is called "Cold Dew".
The phrase "Wild geese arrive as guests" means that the wild geese that arrived earlier are the "hosts," and those that arrive |later| are the "guests." "Guest" carries the |meaning| of a visitor.
The phrase "Sparrows enter | |the great water| | |and become clams" means that |sparrows| are birds of yang. |Clams| are objects of yin. At this time, the yin energy |rises| to its |peak| and is about to |descend|. According to the principle that yang yearns for yin, the |yang essence| of the sparrow is lured by the descending yin energy, enters the yin sea, and |transforms| into the yin essence of the clam. This is the principle of |old yang| |transforming| into |lesser yin|.
The phrase "Chrysanthemums have yellow flowers" means that although chrysanthemums come in various |colors|, they are directly called "yellow flowers" because chrysanthemums |bloom| by receiving the energy of autumn. Autumn corresponds to metal, and its |true color| is yellow. Therefore, the |true color| of the chrysanthemum is considered to be yellow.
