Itsukushima Shrine underwent the 'Reiwa Great Renovation' from June 2019 to December 2022, lasting about three and a half years, and it is now complete! (This was the first large-scale renovation in about 70 years!!)
That said, perhaps because it is exposed to sea breezes and seawater every day while bustling with so many visitors, I always have the impression that some part of it is under repair (they were fixing something this time, too).

Since 1-year-old Mame-chan kept almost falling off, we left the shrine grounds early, and after enjoying some grilled oysters, our group headed to Miyajimarin!!
