Laule‘a Island Letter #04 🏝️ Little “Tenants” of the Body 〜 Little Tenants of the Body
This is a story of a small island
that has not yet appeared on any map.
When I walk with Fluffy, stories begin naturally, as if by magic.
Smiles ripple out from the other side,
guiding us without a word.
As a continuation of this island, within the “mansion” that is this body, there are small residents who are invisible but certainly exist.
Yes, even things like “fleas” and the “life of the soil.”
(🏝️ Fleas ≒ Mr. Flea)

Small residents of the body
Our bodies are like a single apartment building.
Dogs, people, cells, microbes, and invisible consciousnesses
all live together in a crowded space.
Fleas are sometimes troublesome neighbors within that space.
But they are not just “pests,”
they are a piece of the puzzle of a larger ecosystem.
I am reminded of natural farmer Shinya Imahashi.
When he was farming in England,
when many fields lost their crops due to a heatwave,
only his field continued to bear fruit.
There, he used no fertilizers or pesticides,
he just grew them while talking to the soil, microbes, and invisible beings.
Wild boars and rabbits
come to the field at first,
but eventually they sense “this place is different” and stop coming.
That is because he left letters for the crops,
spoke to them, and quietly communicated the boundaries.
(🏝️ Wild boar ≒ Mr. Boar 🐗, Rabbit ≒ Mr. Rabbit 🐇)
All living things
move by sensing something beyond words.
If I think of it that way, even to fleas,
I feel I can say,
“Thank you, but this place is full.”

Beneath the soil lies the door to intuition.
Coexistence rather than rejection.
Dialogue rather than extermination.
That small shift in consciousness
might adjust the flow of invisible energy,
and eventually bring back a story of harmony to the heart as well.

Now, if you were to press the remote control for your “inner mansion”… what channel would you like to change to?

Laule‘a Island Letter #02
— To the Little Tenants of the Body
This is a tale from a small island,
one that has yet to appear on any map.
When I walk with Fluffy,
stories seem to begin on their own,
smiles ripple outward,
and without a single word,
we are quietly guided along the path.
And so, as a continuation of this island story,
there are also little tenants within the mansion we call the body.
Invisible, yet surely present—
fleas, and even the living spirit of the soil itself.
Little Tenants of the Body
Our bodies are like vast apartment houses.
Humans, dogs, cells, microbes,
and unseen presences all live together
in a delicate balance.
Fleas, too, are tenants—
sometimes troublesome neighbors,
yet never just “pests.”
They are fragments of a larger puzzle
called the ecosystem.
I recall the story of Shinya Imahashi,
a natural farmer who once cultivated land in England.
During a fierce heatwave,
many fields bore no harvest,
yet his alone remained abundant.
He used no fertilizers, no pesticides—
only dialogue with the soil,
with microbes, and with invisible companions.
Wild boars and rabbits entered at first,
but soon they sensed, “This place is different,”
and they did not return.
For he spoke to his crops,
left them letters,
and quietly marked the boundaries
without force.
All beings perceive more than words.
And so, even to fleas,
we might whisper:
“Thank you, but this house is already full.”
Not rejection, but coexistence.
Not eradication, but conversation.
Perhaps this subtle shift in awareness
is what allows invisible currents to realign,
and harmony to quietly return.
If you had a remote for your inner mansion, what channel would you tune in to?
