This is what happens when a Korean film takes on a car chase! A thrilling, action-packed masterpiece that really shines!
First, regarding the story and structure.
The flow of the story is right down the middle of the road.
There is nothing particularly novel, but the seasoning is quite strong.
While keeping the tension of the main escape plot high and consistent,
it also adds some spice by subtly weaving in issues like Korea's male-dominated society, misogyny, and immigration.
It clears the hurdle of being both a classic and original.
And the cast.
The presence of the lead, Park So-dam, is now one of a kind. This dark heroine role is a genuine hit for her.
The presence, naturalness, and high level of skill of the child actor are breathtaking. I hope they keep growing like this!!!
The supporting cast also delivers consistently high-quality performances.
Because it is an action film without complex rhetoric, the high level of overall skill really stands out.
The parts I thought were a bit lacking were...
・The actual car action feels small in proportion. I wonder about the fact that the climax takes place indoors.
・Despite the relentless direction throughout, the ending is too sweet. I was relieved, but a more bitter ending might have been better.
Those were the two points.
Well then.
Car action movies are a major corner of the genre.
Depending on the budget, they can be as flashy as you want.
But if you do that, you can't compete with the big studios, so what do you do?
This film provides the answer by competing with careful direction, a solid script, and the acting ability of the cast.
I felt there were many similarities to daily life.
I felt it was a work that also made me reflect on myself.
