I bought a used CD of Olivia Chaney's 'Shelter', and the guidebook 'Genealogy of Female Singer-Songwriters' is wonderful - Tuesday, September 30, 2025

Last weekend, I went to Disk Union Shibuya to pick up the used CD of Olivia Chaney's 'Shelter' that I had ordered. The Disk Union website is extremely convenient; if used items are in stock, they are listed on the site, and you can pick them up at your preferred store, which is very helpful as it saves on shipping costs.

The songs, featuring acoustic performances and her beautiful singing voice, are a masterpiece that I want to listen to quietly and slowly by myself at night. It is music that feels like drinking delicious, pure water—neither earthy nor old-fashioned, completely free of any bitterness—that cleanses both the mind and body.

I learned about this Olivia Chaney album after reading the guidebook 'Genealogy of Female Singer-Songwriters' by Toru Watanabe, published in 2021, for the first time in a while. This guidebook is an excellent book that introduces works that resonate with me even more perfectly now than when it was first released. The fact that it includes an interview with Olivia Chaney is irresistible to me, and I think it is a wonderful guidebook that deserves to be appreciated now more than ever. For the time being, I think I will continue to listen to music and look for new discoveries based on this guidebook.
