Giving me the ramen egg is love
My husband is not the type to express his affection openly. He dislikes holding hands in public, rarely compliments me, and seldom tells me how he feels in words.
However, he always gives me the "best part" of his food.
The ramen egg, the center of the pork cutlet, the strawberry on top of the shortcake, the crispy fries. He knows my food preferences perfectly and always tries to give me the bite I would be happiest to receive from that dish.
If I hesitate and refuse, he even gets a little grumpy, saying, "I want you to eat it."
If it were me, I would want to eat the best part myself. But my husband is different. It seems he is happy when he sees me looking happy while eating something delicious.
I think it is safe to call this "love."
My husband may not spontaneously say "I love you," but perhaps he is showing me his love by giving me the "best part" of his food.
Thinking of it that way, the ramen egg tastes even better.
