Is the 'AI everyone is using' really necessary for you?

I am Kazumi Koda.
Every day, I verify sustainable customer acquisition mechanisms that combine AI and marketing.
In this note, I focus on the 'way of thinking about web marketing,' which you may have heard of but remain vague about how to actually use. Based on my practical experience in the field and the results of my own trials, I have summarized it in as down-to-earth language as possible.

A note that grew without going viral. The cause wasn't writing ability. The reason I went from zero to 1,000 followers in 30 days ➡ Read the rest in my newsletter.

Why do I feel like I'm missing out?

Recently, I often see stories on social media and in the news about people who have mastered AI. Every time I see posts saying, 'You can even do this now' or 'Everyone is using it this way,' I sometimes feel a sense of impatience.

Even though I should be using AI enough myself, the feeling of 'I have to do more, or I'll be left behind' doesn't go away. When I think about it calmly, I realize it's a strange feeling.

'Everyone is using it' has strong persuasive power on its own

When I was researching this feeling, I came across the term 'social proof.' It is a concept proposed by psychologist Robert Cialdini, which refers to the tendency for people to decide how to act based on 'what many people around them are doing' when they are not confident in their own judgment, he says.

In particular, it is said that this effect is stronger for new things where the correct answer is not yet clear. How to use AI is something everyone is currently feeling their way through. That is precisely why information that 'everyone is using it' may have a stronger persuasive power than its actual necessity.

I am beginning to feel that my own impatience is largely driven by the atmosphere of 'everyone else is using it, so I have to use it too,' rather than the necessity of AI itself.

That said, I can no longer imagine a daily life without AI at all. It has been an incredible pace if you think back to about two years ago.

Re-evaluating the necessity for myself

I don't think the information that 'everyone is using it' is bad in itself. In fact, I often learn useful ways to use it from that.

If you try it and think it's necessary, you should continue, and if you think it's unnecessary, you should stop, but I suppose there are many people who can't keep up because the 'try it' part is vast and the acceleration is too fast.

I realized that the part about 'feeling like I'll be left behind if I don't use it' was bigger than I thought, rather than 'because I need AI.'

How can I make the most of the AI I am currently using? I think I should stop and think about that once, and I plan to use this long weekend to examine my own usage.

I share these realizations little by little in my newsletter, which I cannot write all about in my notes. Please take a look if you like.
