The Unofficial Miyu Awards, and finally, the Senryu edition.

This time, I chose from 215 entries based on my first impressions.
From among the many senryu, I picked out the ones that made me chuckle or feel warm inside.
It really is difficult to choose, isn't it?
Once again, they are listed in the order they appeared on the list!

🍠 Akira Yamane-san

Sentimental, it's not a unit of measurement, is it?

I laughed the moment I saw this on the list.
I often call myself 'sentimental' and have even written articles using that as a topic.
Even as I wrote it, I wondered if it was an obsolete Showa-era term or if young people wouldn't understand it.
And then, I saw this senryu!
Ah, so it really was mistaken for a unit of measurement.
Since there's no help for it, I'll go on a sentimental journey while singing 'Sentimental Journey.' Riding the 8:00 sharp Azusa No. 2.

🍠 Kuuya-san

Fur vest, supposed to be stylish, but I look like a hunter

I smirked when I saw this on the list as well.
Fur vests are fluffy, look warm, and are cute, aren't they? In magazines and online, models wear them so stylishly.
I thought, 'I'll try incorporating this trend and wear one!!'
But when I actually put it on, oh, how strange. Something's off? Wait, is this... a hunter??? lol
I can just picture that scene.
Come to think of it, I thought the same thing when mouton vests were popular a few years ago. Ever since seeing this poem, 'hunter' has become a power word for me lol

The one who lights the fire again is someone else

My eyes were glued to this poem.
This could only come from a mature woman (￣▽￣)
If I talk too much about it, I might end up saying something I shouldn't, so I won't say much (lol).
I wonder if a long-dormant love will be ignited once again.
Who is the one lighting the fire, anyway?
Well, ignorance is bliss, as they say.

The warmth of a single can of coffee

When I saw this poem, I was reminded of Isako Washio's canned coffee commercial.

I loved that commercial back then.

This poem allows for so many different imagined situations.
It could be a couple on a date, or perhaps a breakup conversation.
Maybe it's a senior and junior discussing a problem, or friends sharing their troubles.
Or perhaps someone sitting alone on a park bench, lost in thought.
Either way, I can imagine a story set in a cold season with a warm can of coffee in hand, and I think it's a wonderful poem that makes that situation feel both warm and sad.

My autumn makeup was on point, until the hay fever hit

I suffer from hay fever, so I relate to this so much.
Even if I do my makeup beautifully, my eyes get itchy and teary.
I tell myself, 'Don't rub them, don't you dare,' but I end up rubbing them anyway.
Oh no, my eyeliner is smudging! My mascara! My eyeshadow...
Those who don't have hay fever won't understand this pain.
I couldn't help but nod along to Madoka-san's poem.
Yes, I'm nodding right now like the Nodding Trio, with the 'Nodding March' playing in my head.

Found a topic for my next post in the comments

I'm also in a storm of empathy for Fumiko-san's poem.
I have actually written posts based on comment sections before.
Not only that, but I sometimes get hints for articles from the comment sections of other noters.
Furthermore, I even write articles based on the articles of other noters.
So, it made me happy to realize I'm not the only one who does that.

Faded feelings spill out under the new moon

This poem by Aricchi-san triggered my 'heart-flutter' sensor.
The new moon is invisible to the eye.
It is a moon that will gradually wax little by little.
In the presence of such a moon, feelings for a love that has already ended, or thoughts of him, appear faded. It's better to gently let go of things that have ended, but that is often difficult to do.

The moon is said to have great power, and it's good to make wishes for things you want to achieve during the new moon. Apparently, you should make the wish as if it has already come true.
And it's said that during the full moon, it's good to make wishes for things you want to let go of.
