【The Melody Resonating on Holy Night】I Had Kept My Eve Plans Open

I'm joining the project by Lavender-san and Aloha-san💛

The idea is to compose a haiku inspired by a Christmas song.
It's been so long since I've written a haiku that I wonder if I can even do it lol
Please accept this as my contribution to the festivities🙇

The song I chose is this one.

A classic among classics.
Tatsuro Yamashita's Christmas Eve.

So, here goes the haiku❗️

A kiss on the night before Eve, in the rain

As for the story behind it...
It's exactly as the haiku says🤣

I met someone in December.
We had a relationship where I wasn't sure if we were dating or not.
I liked him, but I wonder how he felt.

On the 23rd, I had dinner with him and four other people.
After that, we all went our separate ways.

We got into the car and went to a park parking lot.
There were many cars with couples like us parked around.
After a while, it started to rain, and the rain got heavier and heavier, pounding against the windshield.
The streetlights reflected off it, making it look very beautiful and romantic.

We got into a good mood, and he kissed me.
Naturally, you'd expect things to go further, right?
However, that day was the 23rd.
No matter which road we took, every place was full; there wasn't a single vacancy anywhere.
We drove quite a distance, but it was a total washout.
With no other choice, he drove me home.

Things felt a bit awkward, and although I thought we might meet on Christmas Eve the next day, that wish didn't come true.
I spent a wholesome Eve eating a Christmas-style meal with my family, having cake, and drinking sparkling wine.

Even though I had kept my Eve plans open.
I just ended up knowing way too much about the locations of love hotels😂
Even if I know them, I have no way to show off that knowledge.
Because if people find out I know about such places, they'll think I'm a player🥺

That was my memory.
By the way, unlike the song, the rain didn't turn into snow late at night.
In the end, it just kept raining the whole time.
It seems our relationship also ended on a rainy note lol
