Rather than useless people, AI. The 'ultimate partner' I found as a solo PR person, and the peace of mind born from zero seconds

When my colleague quit, I suddenly became a 'solo PR' department. I thought I would despair, but by my side was the ultimate partner.

It is an existence called 'AI'—far more sincere than any human, supporting me 24 hours a day without a single complaint.

Rather than useless people, AI.

I used the harsh words 'useless people' intentionally, but in fact, hospital administration is quite lax compared to general companies.
Aren't the people who think about and practice improving operations on their own limited to those in positions of authority?

Today, I would like to write about how I use AI in the analog world of medical PR, what kind of 'freedom' I have gained, and the real struggles and realizations that came with it.
I want to document those real struggles and realizations.

The discomfort of being 'too pretty.' The wall of AI image generation

For medical PR, finding materials is life. But searching for free stock photos consumes a massive amount of time. So, I tried to have AI (like Adobe Firefly) create images, but I hit a wall here.I hit a wall here.

'The people AI creates are too pretty and unnatural.'

The unique sense of cleanliness that Japanese hospitals value, and the peace of mind of 'ordinary people' rooted in the community. The images AI generates look somewhat like foreign dramas, too flashy to blend into the tone of the workplace. For someone as particular as I am, that was a line I couldn't cross.

That is why I stopped using generative AI for 'live-action' photos. Now, I use it as a pinpoint 'magic' for things like background materials and icons.

The 'thinking partner' that supports my side job writing medical columns

On the other hand, 'writing work' is something I cannot talk about without AI.
Creating medical columns and owned media articles for my side job. Here, AI is not just a tool, but an 'editor' with whom I refine plans together.

  • From title structure to article proofreading

  • The process of breaking down difficult technical terms

  • Creating prompts to elicit the optimal output

By running alongside AI, I am able to achieve both quality and speed that I could never reach on my own.

What the world of 'zero seconds' brought me

Above all, what changed my life was the automation of routine tasks like email replies. Work I used to leave to colleagues. Even for returning a standard message, there used to be a time lag of about 15 minutes.

As a result of automating this with GAS (Google Apps Script) and AI, the effort for replies became 'zero seconds.'

This figure of 'zero seconds' is not just about saving time. I no longer have to fear missing applications that arrive outside of business hours or making mistakes by not replying.

4. What I gained was time for 'morning note-taking'

The greatest benefit born from automation. That is, reclaiming 'time for note-taking' to deepen my own thoughts before starting work in the morning.

Previously, I used to exhaust my brain with routine tasks during the most important time of the morning when my thinking ability was at its peak. But now, I have time to write notes, jot down my worries, and plan future strategies.

'AI over someone who can't help.' It might sound a bit cold, but this is my own way of expressing the utmost trust in AI.

What lies beyond efficiency is not a cold, digital world.
It is time spent with loved ones and time spent facing myself.
To protect such warm, human moments, I intend to continue expanding the scope of my work together with my partner, AI.
