"Let's Compose Haiku with Photos" Part 1 [Haiku Kindergarten] I'm submitting mine too (*^-^*)

When I first saw this photo, I couldn't immediately come up with an idea for a haiku.

But as I looked at the light shining in the pitch darkness, I remembered that time.

It was about the 3.11 Great East Japan Earthquake...

In Gunma Prefecture, where I live, we experienced a seismic intensity of 6-lower, and those of us working in childcare,

talked to each other and encouraged one another to protect the safety of the children's hearts and bodies and to keep them from feeling anxious until their families came to pick them up.

We gathered everyone in the large hall, quickly set up a TV and video player to show the children's favorite anime, and created many corners to provide places for them to play. Meanwhile, amidst the occasional aftershocks, we were busy checking the children's belongings, ensuring their safety, and checking the building.

Until the very last child was picked up, the childcare staff couldn't even contact their own families, and when we finally saw the last one off safely, a fear that made us all want to collapse hit us. Only then did everyone start contacting their families.

From that day on, the streetlights went out. The traffic lights went out too.

And then, the rolling blackouts began.

In the childcare setting as well, power outages became a matter of course.

Depending on the time, we couldn't provide school lunches, and children who were picked up late had to wait for their families in the pitch darkness.

Even then, we came up with ways to cope.

To make sure the children wouldn't feel lonely, to keep them safe, and to keep them warm...

Each childcare worker brought in lamps, light sources, and heating equipment from their own homes to make the nursery rooms bright and warm.

There was even a staff member who wore a mountain-climbing headlamp while singing songs to make the children laugh.

Suddenly, looking at this image, I remembered those things.

I'm sorry for the long explanation.

With that said, here is my submission.

Since the season of the Great Earthquake was spring, the seasonal words are related to spring.

Gathering light in the darkness, a song of spring

A young child's smile lights up, spring has arrived

Amidst such rolling blackouts, darkness also descended upon our home.

My children, who are usually in their own rooms, gathered in the living room and stared at the light.

There was sadness, but there was also a quiet joy, as if Christmas had come in the spring.

I remember being moved by how much the candle flame made our hearts bright and warm.

So, here is a haiku

Spring is near, gathering in the darkness, gazing at the light
