My frozen shoulder is finally in remission (^^)/ <Update included>

I have been battling a "frozen shoulder" since mid-May 💦💦

It's not fully healed yet, but
for me, it has finally, finally entered a state of remission \(^_^)/

It hasn't gotten perfectly better, but at my last visit, the orthopedic clinic rehabilitation was "finished!" became the status.

Man, it was long! It was painful!

So, I would like to summarize the progress so far and my current state.

Before that, I will paste some information on what remission means.

I hope this will be of some help to those who are suffering from the pain of shoulder stiffness or frozen shoulder, as well as those who haven't experienced it yet (^_-)-☆

My pain started in mid-May.

The initial discomfort was that it would hurt when I carried a shoulder bag on my left shoulder, or when I went for acupressure or massage and had to lie face down, it would hurt to stretch my left arm; that's how it started.

I thought it was just a bit of stiff shoulders and watched it, but it didn't get better at all; in fact, it was getting worse and worse.

Eventually, it wasn't just the pain of stiff shoulders, but shooting pain whenever I moved the joint...Furthermore, even coughing or sneezing caused intense pain...I couldn't sleep at night due to the pain...Even when I woke up in the morning, I couldn't get up because of the pain...

At first, I took painkillers I had received before and used compresses, but

"This pain is not normal!"
I thought, and went to an orthopedic clinic.

However, the first doctor, as soon as they saw the X-ray, said,"It's a frozen shoulder, so it can't be helped. While taking painkillers, it's better to move it, so do some exercises!"...

Because I was told that, I cried while stretching my arms, joined Curves, and tried to strengthen my muscles, but it only got worse (´;ω;`)ウッ…

The second orthopedic doctor, introduced to me by a friend, also took an X-ray and said, "It's a frozen shoulder, that must have been painful," and started injections and rehabilitation (heat therapy and vibration therapy with machines)!Even so, the pain didn't go away easily...I had a "steroid injection" every two weeks and a "hyaluronic acid injection" in between. My husband, who found out that the injection was a "steroid," said, "Isn't it better not to get steroid injections if they don't even work?" and since it was just around the Obon holiday and the hospital was closed, I stopped going...

That said, it didn't get better at all, and the intense pain continued.

Even when I went to yoga, depending on the position, there was intense pain, and I couldn't stretch my arm.

It will get better someday, even without injections, someday...I had optimistic expectations, but it was still painful, so I went to a third orthopedic clinic introduced by a yoga friend.

That was where I was saved (´;ω;`) uuu

They performed various tests, including X-rays, ultrasounds, and MRIs.
Even more than that, I was moved to tears and sobbed when the doctor said, "Let's beat this together."

They also discovered that fluid had accumulated in my shoulder,
and said, "You've been working too hard, haven't you?"
I truly feel that those words saved me!

They also found that while my rotator cuff wasn't torn, it was damaged❗
It hadn't reached the point of a tear, but I was told that surgery might be an option depending on how the treatment progressed.

First, they started with "steroid injections"
and told me, "In this condition, you must not move it!"...

The doctor I could trust said,
"First, to relieve the pain, let's rest and give you five injections. After that, if you still want more injections, we can do hyaluronic acid or others, but we can also transition to physical therapy here."

Because they said that, I decided not to give up halfway this time and to follow this doctor's lead.

Even when I went to Curves, I refrained from strength training with my left arm. After the injections were finished and I was much better, I started physical therapy with a physical therapist in January while monitoring my condition!

Since my range of motion had narrowed and my muscles had become stiff, the physical therapist not only gave me massages but also carefully taught me rehabilitation exercises I could do at home, which gave me a sense of security.

During my rehabilitation sessions, the doctor would almost always come by for rounds to encourage me (´;ω;`) uuu

They taught me that the state of being stiff and unable to open up also stems from a belief rooted in "fear," and helped me realize my own fear.
I realized, "Because it had been hurting for so long, the thought that 'this movement might cause pain' had turned into stiffness."

So, little by little, I confirmed with every rehab session that "it's okay" and "it moves this far," and I worked hard on my rehab at home,

and finally, on March 23rd, I had my last rehabilitation session\(^_^)/

"Of course, don't overdo it. If it starts to hurt, come back to the clinic right away," the doctors said, and it was an emotional conclusion (lol)

That day happened to be my second stage on note as well.
I thought it was such a wonderful new beginning ☆彡

I had many painful experiences after getting a "frozen shoulder," but I also learned things.

○ Every part of the human body is important.
○ I understood how it feels to be cared for.

In addition, here is what I learned from undergoing rehabilitation👇👇👇

○ The importance of the shoulder blades
○ The body is connected (stiffness in areas where you don't feel pain also has an effect)

I will continue my "home rehabilitation" from here on out.

Furthermore, I realized something I learned from the book "The Three Happinesses Found by a Psychiatrist," which I finished reading the other day.

"Trust your doctor"
If you can find a doctor you can trust, your pain will also start to decrease.

I feel like that might be part of it too.

One of the things I learned this time is that "you shouldn't let pain drag on." If you don't get better, it's sometimes necessary to seek active treatment rather than just waiting and thinking, "It will get better someday."

I think that might be why it took me a whole year...

In any case,in life, health is number one!
With that foundation in place, you can move on to the next step, right?

I learned that from "The Three Happinesses Found by a Psychiatrist" as well, so I would like to write about it in my articles little by little from now on.

Today, I have summarized my experience with
"frozen shoulder,"
which I have been battling for nearly a year (lol).

What makes me a little anxious is the information that if one shoulder gets "frozen shoulder," there is a possibility that the other shoulder will too 💦💦

I don't want to get it again...
I've looked up some preventive measures, so I'm thinking of giving them a try.

And, I will continue to enjoy yoga!
(*^-^*)
