What I Learned from COVID-19 Sequelae☆彡
About a month ago, I contracted COVID-19.
I pushed myself a bit to support my aunt and had to cancel a planned trip,
and I also experienced the painful sadness of losing my sense of smell and taste for a month...
Still, I really wanted to make the trip with my eldest son (October 3rd and 4th) happen. (Since I took a late summer vacation, it would have been too sad to miss that opportunity... lol)
I did my best for that!!
◎ Olfactory training
◎ Taking herbal medicine (Tokishakuyakusan), zinc supplements, and vitamins
◎ Being mindful of tasting my food
◎ Facing my own body
◎ Going to osteopathic and chiropractic clinics
◎ Starting to study Oriental medicine
◎ Expressing my thoughts while taking morning walks
On the trip with my eldest son and husband, my sense of taste hadn't fully returned yet, but
I felt the joy of being together, saw beautiful scenery, was healed by cute animals, savored the flavors I could still feel, and spent time smiling (*^-^*)
(I want to write an article about the memories someday🎵)
My whole family (husband, mother, younger brother) caught it, but I was able to go out with them, and we were able to enjoy some delicious 100% buckwheat noodles.
And, having started my studies in Oriental medicine, in the last few days,
my sense of smell and taste have almost completely recovered \(^_^)/
It got better little by little,
and in the end,
it was an experience that lasted almost a month.
The days of losing my sense of smell and taste were painful and filled with anxiety, but through that experience, I was able to gain many lessons,
and it has had a great influence on my life from here on out💗
I realized the importance of a diet that suits my constitution and is mindful of digestion, and the importance of being grateful for being able to taste and savoring things carefully,
and in the end,
"Even if things don't go as planned, the best path is prepared for you"
is something I have realized once again🎵
Through this experience,
I realized that food tastes good because you use all five senses and your body is rejoicing.
I look at it with my eyes and think, "Wow, that looks delicious✨"
I smell the aroma and think, "That smells delicious❗"
Since I'm unsure about the seasoning, I ask my husband, "How does it taste today?"
And he tells me in words, "It's delicious."
Then I put it in my mouth, enjoy the texture,
and feel happy as my sense of taste changes little by little.
I realized once again that eating involves using all five senses,
and I feel a renewed sense of gratitude for the body that allows me to feel that.
I've also come to think that I want to provide even more delicious and healthy things for myself and my family.
Because the foundation of the body is built by eating...
Thinking about and providing what is necessary for me and my family while taking good care of my body will surely lead to a healthy diet.
Not a diet where you force yourself not to eat, but eating what is necessary, as much as is necessary, with joy and pleasure.
Doing moderate exercise for the sake of my body,
sleeping well for the sake of my health,
and contributing to my family, the community I'm involved in, and the region with what I can do.
Cooking three meals a day, doing housework, fulfilling my roles in the community, volunteering, caring for my family,
taking morning walks, doing muscle training, yoga, and stretching, doing gardening and farm work, sometimes going out with my family to enjoy the blessings of nature,
and working with friends on my dreams related to end-of-life planning and creating spaces at a level I can manage.
I want to keep making life choices so that I can live my life in my own way, vibrantly and wonderfully until the very end.
I think this is probably my happiness.
At each moment, I will choose fun places that match my "here and now" feelings.
To live life in my own way...

Even painful experiences,
are surely happening
because they are necessary for me.
If I turn that into learning,
I can surely continue to grow!
To everyone who worried about me, everyone who sent me kindness, and everyone who read my articles about COVID-19,
thank you for your support <m(__)m>
That was my report☆彡

It's rare for me to post four days in a row (lol)
Thank you for reading
again today
