Memories of the School Festival (My Youth (^-^)v)
Seeing kakiemon's article reminded me of some of my own nostalgic 'school festival' memories✨
Maybe I can write an article and join this project too (lol)
Speaking of autumn, it's school festival season, isn't it?
Thinking that, I decided to write about it😄
Laramii-tan, Mirai-san, Yahoo-san, things are overlapping a bit (lol), but I look forward to working with you (^-^)v

Well then, when I think of 'school festivals',
The first is when I was in my third year of junior high, the second is when I was in high school, and the third is related to my children's school festivals.
This time, I'd like to write about the school festival when I was in my third year of junior high and the one when I was in high school.
[Memories of the School Festival in Junior High]
I previously wrote about those memories in the article below.
As I wrote in the article, there's I-kun, my unforgettable second love. I'd be happy if you could read the details in the article above... (lol)
I started dating I-kun when I was in my second year of junior high. When we became third-years, I-kun, who was the vice-captain of the soccer team, got involved in a drinking incident out of a bit of mischief (it was that kind of era (lol)). If that had been all, they would have just been scolded, but after drinking, the captain, Y-kun, ran around the schoolyard, collapsed, and it turned into an ambulance incident...
Both of their grades dropped, and we were forbidden from seeing each other (we only exchanged diaries. Is this a drama?! (lol)). That autumn, there was a school festival, and the songs I-kun sang on stage were,
'If Life Could Be Lived Twice' and 'Farewell at 22'.
I watched from the shadows... (Is this a drama?!)
Even now, I can still see I-kun's performance on stage back then in my mind.
As for what happened to the two of us after that... I'll leave that to your imagination💛

[Memories of the School Festival in Girls' High School]
Yes, now for my second school festival memory. Memories of the school festival during my high school days (^^)/
I entered an all-girls high school, and my school life surrounded by only girls began.
Since we had all gathered from various middle schools, it was difficult to build relationships, and in fact, I caught rubella right after enrolling, so when I returned, I felt like an outsider.
I did join a club, so I got along with my club friends, but I felt like I couldn't really connect with my classmates. (I was also a bit of a rebel, which made it even harder (lol))
That autumn, there was a school festival, and for some reason I've forgotten, my class decided to have an exhibit themed around 'The Lives of Aristocrats and Commoners in the Heian Period.'
That said, I wasn't actively participating in the discussions at first, but the class representative at the time (she ended up entering the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (lol)) proposed, 'The school festival is something we all create together. Let's divide the class into aristocrats and commoners and think about what we can do.'
I (being a bit of a rebel) thought, 'What a pain,' (lol) but when it came time to decide which group to join, I thought the aristocrats might be better, so I joined that group.
I don't remember the discussion process at all, but I do remember that we kept repeating the cycle of discussing ideas in our groups and then discussing them as a whole class.
Ultimately, as a class, we decided on the following:
1. To show the differences in lifestyle, we would divide the room into two, research meals and clothing, and try to make what we could. 2. The aristocrat group would wear twelve-layered ceremonial kimonos and become exhibits ourselves. The commoner group would also research the clothing of that time and act out scenes of their daily work. 3. To create the setting, we would use the window side for the aristocrat group and the darker side for the commoner group.
We decided on things like that and held discussions within each group. Thinking back now, maybe our student life back then was guaranteed the time to spend creating a school festival...
The image we had in the aristocrat group was the Doll Festival. Once we started, it became fun...
We put straw mats on the desks to create the atmosphere of a tatami-floored room, brought in folding screens to partition the room, borrowed a wheelbarrow from the school to build an ox-drawn carriage, and went to the riverbank near the school to record the sound of flowing water to find music with the sound of a koto...
I also made various suggestions, and as we worked on it together for many days, we became friends, and I remember having a great time.
I was chosen to be a human doll wearing a twelve-layered kimono, and when visitors came, I would pretend to be a doll and stay perfectly still (lol). When friends tried to make me laugh, I would burst out laughing (lol).
The commoner group was also amazing!
After the event ended that day, we had a party where we danced around a campfire in the schoolyard, threw the things we had made into the fire, and everyone cried our eyes out. It was a moment of youth☆彡
I wish I had photos left, but unfortunately, I can't find any💦
But for me, it is one of the biggest memories of my high school days, one that even influenced my life.
◯ Enjoying and putting your all into something that might not amount to anything. ◯ Discussing and joining forces to create something good, utilizing each person's strengths to build it together.
I believe that experiencing the fact that this is important and, above all, fun—even for a slightly cynical person like I was—became the foundation for how I have lived my life since then.
My alma mater, which holds such memories, merged with a boys' school last year and closed the curtain on its 113-year history.
Even so, I can still sing the school song, and I am still connected with my friends. It remains a wonderful time of youth💕
I was happy to participate in this project and share my memories.
Thank you for letting me participate (*^^*)
I'm a little worried if this is okay...
Please forgive me~(^◇^)

[For reference]
I don't remember at all what we used as a reference when we were making it back then, but when I searched for it, I found this article!
It brought back memories, so I pasted it here (^^)/
Thank you for reading
again today
