The Difference Between "Writing by Hand" and "Typing"
As I continue to post every day,
I use both the act of "writing by hand" and
the act of "typing" to
continue my posts.
"Writing by hand" means,
literally, actually holding a pen and
writing characters on a white sheet of paper.
"Typing" means
inputting via a keyboard on a medium
such as a computer or smartphone.
In terms of creating words,
neither verb is different.
However, the impact that each action has
on the person doing it is quite different.
This time, I would like to share with you
the benefits I have gained
from doing this for about two years.
So, let's get started ♬

✔ Benefits of
"writing by hand"

The overwhelming difference between "writing by hand" and "typing" is
the power of creativity.
To put it bluntly,"writing by hand"is the way to
work if you want toexplode with creativity.
When I hold a pen, face a white sheet of paper,
and let my imagination run wild thinking,
"What should I write?"
my motivation really starts to build up.
Unlike "typing," because I can write in any form
and scribble freely on a white sheet of paper,
I come up with ideas that aren't stuck in a mold.
(Of course,
there are some mundane ideas too...)
When turning the ideas that pop into my head
into actual words or shapes,
the act of "writing by hand" expresses them beautifully.
Also, the fact that I am actually holding a pen and
"writing my own characters"is also
an important point.
My handwriting is very unique.
And my stroke order is a total mess 😅
It's handwriting I could never show to others,
but because it is my own handwriting, I feel attached to it.
The only thing that is easier to read and write
and helps me organize my thoughts better than anything else is
"the characters I wrote myself".
The act of "writing by hand" has the
advantage of being
time-efficient for organizing your thoughts.
It is one of its benefits.
You can write down whatever comes to mind
at that very moment
on paper as much as you like, freehand.
Since you can do it with just a pen and paper,
you can take action immediately.
When you have written down all your thoughts on paper,
you can simply put the pen down.
- Benefits of "Writing by Hand" -
・Stimulates creativity
・Writing in your own hand in the real world
・Saves time when organizing thoughts
✔ Benefits gained from
"Typing"

"Typing" means
hitting the keyboard.
In my case, I touch-type on the keyboard,
so I simply
experience the "pleasure of tapping".
I am intoxicated by the sight of myself spinning sentences
while my fingers clatter away on the keys.
(That's a bit perverted, isn't it? 😅)
Also, with "typing," you can quickly and easily
create text using predictive conversion.
Unlike when "writing by hand,"
you don't have to worry about
"Wait, is this kanji correct?"
Being able to produce large amounts of text
stress-free and efficiently
is a major appeal of "typing."
Furthermore, it is also
extremely convenient for organizing text.
When you want to "rearrange sentences,"
you can swap them immediately
using copy and paste.
Adding necessary wording or deleting text
is, of course, also possible immediately.
When you try to edit text by writing on actual paper,
it is quite a chore 💦
It is a significant benefit
that can only be realized
because of "typing" on a computer.
- Benefits of "Typing" -
・The satisfaction of tapping on a keyboard
・Stress-free experience with predictive text
・Ease of organizing text

✔ Making the most of
the benefits of each

In this article, I explained the
respective benefits of "writing by hand" and "typing."
And the end point of both actions
leads to output.
You visualize your thoughts and worries,
generate language, and compose text.
Also, if you choose the appropriate method,
it can lead to self-growth in a short time and in a fun way.
In my case,
each has a different role.
When I "write by hand," it is
mainly forfinding ideas.
I hold a pen when I am looking at notes I actually wrote on paper
and exploring, thinking, "Maybe this perspective can provide information to the reader."
When I "type," it is forthe final draft.
I tap on the keyboard when I am structuring text
so that the ideas I have refined
are easy for the reader to understand.
Some people might complete everything
by "typing."
Either way... what is important is to
choose the method that is easiest for you
and keep producing output.
How do you
distinguish between the two?
I hope you find this article
helpful.
Here, I will not touch upon "voice input" as a means other than "writing characters" and "typing characters".
Personally, I don't use "voice input"...
💦
Sorry about that (reflecting on it).
Well then, until next time.
Excuse me.
