Nobunaga sought a reconciliation with the Imagawa.

Nobunaga brought the Shiba clan of Owari and the Kira clan of Mikawa face to face.
On the surface, it was a peace treaty between the two provincial governors.
However, the true aim was reconciliation with the Imagawa.
Nobunaga was being pushed back by Yoshimoto's offensive.
He had to prevent any further invasion of Owari at all costs.

Nobunaga used Shiba Yoshigane.
1. In early April, the handling of the peaceful meeting between Kira (Yoshiaki)-dono of Mikawa Province and the Buei (Shiba Yoshigane)-sama,
arranged by Kira-dono from Suruga (=Imagawa clan),

The meeting place was Uenohara, Mikawa (Ueno-cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture).
In the three provinces, at Uenohara, both sides set up their troops,
the distance between them was no more than one cho and five dan.
Needless to say, the Buei-sama on one side and Kira-dono on the other,
sat on stools, and it appeared to be a dispute over rank,
about ten men from each side were brought to the center,
there were no other incidents, and they returned to their original seats.
Then, the troops were withdrawn.
Nobunaga valued justification.
He showed an attitude of revering the authority of the Shiba clan, the provincial governors.
1. The Buei-sama was revered as the lord of the province, and Kiyosu Castle was handed over to him,
and Nobunaga retired to the Kitayagura.

Here, the monk of Ninoe (Hattori Sakyo-no-suke) appears again.

At the time of the attempted rebellion, it was leaked and heard from within the retainers,
Nobunaga expelled the Shiba clan.

Yoshimoto is gone now.
Yoshikane is, by now, nothing more than a nuisance.
Nobunaga did not hesitate.
In other words, the three of them were driven out of the province.

First, he killed the deputy shugo of the Kiyosu Oda clan and seized Kiyosu Castle.
