"Do you have glasses?" What I want to tell contact lens users
"I want to get contact lenses, but I don't have glasses."
At the ophthalmologist's office, I sometimes meet people like this.
You cannot always wear contact lenses every single day.
There are days when you must take a break from wearing contact lenses due to eye redness, pain, styes, or allergies.
In such cases, if you don't have glasses, it will interfere with your daily life.
Also, if you only have contact lenses, you tend to end up in a situation where "I want to take them out, but I can't see if I do, so I can't take them out."As a result, you may end up wearing them for longer than necessary, which can lead not only to eye dryness and fatigue, but also to
strain on the cornea and eye problems caused by contact lenses.
Glasses are important not only when you have eye trouble, but also as a backup for when you cannot use contact lenses, such as during disasters or when you are feeling unwell.
If you make it a habit to "switch to glasses when you get home," it becomes easier to secure time to take out your contact lenses and let your eyes rest.
In particular, those who are getting contact lenses for the first time or who rarely use glasses may think that "glasses are unnecessary."
However, when a day comes that you cannot use your contact lenses, just having glasses will give you peace of mind.
I highly recommend that contact lens users have at least one pair of glasses that matches their prescription.
