[Impressions] Comedy is actually interesting—The shock I received from 'THE Golden Combi'
I watched 'The Ultimate New Combi Battle: THE Golden Combi'.
I had only caught a glimpse of an ad for it on the train home from work, and I had a vague recognition that maybe Saya-san was in it... but before I knew it, I had started watching.
I didn't want it to end, so I even stopped watching it halfway through, but in the end, I finished it in two or three days.
To someone like me who knows nothing about the world of comedy (I watched 'Enta no Kamisama' when I was little, and lately I just occasionally watch comedians' YouTube shows) and knows absolutely nothing about creating laughter, it made me realize that creating laughter through improvisation is truly an amazing thing. It was incredibly funny. Truly.
I had never looked at comedy as having forms or archetypes before, so the moment I realized that such things existed in this world, I became even more drawn in and it became more interesting. Furthermore, the way they freely applied those forms in improvisation to show me comedy I had never seen before... it was even more interesting.
Below, some rambling thoughts.
Deeply impressed by the behind-the-scenes stories of the Golden Combi
A behind-the-scenes article by Ashida-san, who planned and directed the Golden Combi.
Hearing the behind-the-scenes stories of show production hits a nerve for an otaku.
I was able to learn as much as possible about how much the Golden Combi was a program that 'gathered the full strength of commercial broadcasting' and the strategic intelligence that was woven into it.
I thought I had started watching this show by chance, but the article mentioned creating a 'program that can involve comedy fans + alpha'.
Indeed, the garish color scheme of the train advertisements, which was cited as one of the 'thorough advertising strategies,' left an impression the moment I saw it.
At the very least, there is one woman here who was completely taken in by it...!
By the way, the logo is described as follows.
The 'program logo' is a very important part for making an impression on viewers who haven't seen the show yet. At the same time, it needed a color scheme and design that wouldn't be confused with popular shows of the past or present. Based on that, the color scheme that Suzuki-san and I arrived at was 'yellow-green and pink'.

'That green and pink show that Chidori is apparently doing' It left a solid impression at a glance.
I started watching it on a whim, but I was watching something amazing. Thank you to everyone involved who created this show. I definitely hope for a season 2...!
I want the knowledge and vocabulary to talk about what I like
It became interesting, so I read several articles related to the Golden Combi posted on note.
They also contained impressions of each duo, and'Yes, exactly that!! That!!'I was able to enjoy it even more after finishing it. What a one-sided impression sharing session...
Seeing the impressions of the skits talked about like this, I thought, I see, it's because there are common forms and contexts that 'laughter can be verbalized'! I wanted to know a little bit about that.
I feel like I'll be able to look at comedy differently than before, and I want to be amazed by how they deviate from the established forms once I know them.
Also, I want to verbalize what I found funny. Otherwise, I won't know what I find funny, and I won't be able to encounter or find similar laughter... I want to find what I like.
I liked the Hirai and Do-mae duo
Speaking of this Golden Combi, the vibe between Male Blanco's Hirai-san and Long Coat Daddy's Do-mae-san really hit home and was funny the whole time, but how should I describe that?????? I have no vocabulary...
Forgive my ignorance, but perhaps because I haven't been watching much comedy or television lately, I wasn't aware of either of them.
When I started watching the show without any prior information, the two of them were already slowly growing on me in the duo formation video (after watching the show, I watched the long version of the formation interview, and it was even funnier).
I realized they hit my funny bone in the 1st stage, 'This is the battlefield for you and me,' and I was completely hooked by the 2nd stage, 'Waking Up' (Nobu-san's retorts just made me unable to stop laughing even more).
From then on, I was just so excited to see what kind of material they would perform next!!! And it was consistently funny. It was truly funny...
I rewatched it to write these impressions, and I can laugh no matter how many times I see it... It's the best...
I want the vocabulary toidentify what I likeand the vocabulary totalk about what I like! Well, as for the latter, even if I had it, my vocabulary would probably fail to keep up with how good it is anyway.
Indeed, this is also a reason why it struck a chord.
Furthermore, while reading impression articles on note, I realized the points that made 'Golden Combi' strike a chord: the 'human growth story' and 'buddy story' elements. The duo that provided these in abundance was the 'New York'
Yashiki-san pairing.
Yes, Ireally love buddy stories... I love them so much... It's just that I don't really go out of my way to find and consume buddy stories myself. I only realize it after someone tells me or I see someone else's impressions. I hadn't realized it myself, but come to think of it, isn't it totally a buddy story?
I wasn't consciously aware of this contextual point that struck a chord while I was watching, but as has already been discussed in other people's impressions, I enjoyed it very much asa story that runs through the program 'Golden Combi'.
'It's okay to cry, but let's laugh twice as much' was truly the best. The moment that came out, I just laughed because it was funny, and considering the context up to that point, I was slowly moved... It was twice as good.
Comedy is interesting, isn't it?
The general conclusion I felt was'Comedy is interesting!'. That doesn't just mean that the skits are funny or the stand-up is funny. Of course, the quality of the material was 120 points, but at the same time, I was able to realize the fun of the world of 'comedy'.
It was a fresh kind of fun I had never seen before, where laughter was being created at that very moment, and a wide variety of laughter was being produced. It was a kind of fun thatcould not be experienced just by receiving laughterlike I had until now.
I want to know more about comedy and laugh a lot. I want to experience more of the fun I hadn't noticed until now.
For a while, I'll probably be digging through the main Golden Combi episodes, related video content, the performers' YouTube channels, and impressions. Actually, I already am.
(I also enjoyed reading the note I cited this time! Thank you.)
I'd like to see analysis? Or commentary? of the material too~~
Thanks to Golden Combi, I was able to encounter a new world of excitement again. Gratitude. I'd like to go to a comedy live show someday.
That's all!
[Thank you for reading until the end ☺︎ I would be happy if you could easily give me a like or a comment. I will continue to write at my own pace 🍀*゜ Mito Haruka]
