[Development] The story of how I made an app called Gem Notebook [Imaginary Gem Travelogue]
Introduction
Background and such...
Hello, I am the person behind [Imaginary Gem Travelogue].
I am sometimes called "Eugene" by three people.
I've been thinking for a while now.
When looking up information about gemstones, it's... well, it's a hassle...
The information is scattered all over the place
I can't tell when the same gemstone has different names!!
What kind of treatments have been done to it???
How fragile is it? Do I need to handle it with care??
*Please note that these are just the impressions of an amateur.
For example, when looking at stones at mineral shows or exhibitions,
I wish I could quickly look up a gemstone that catches my eye...
Or when I'm developing characters or world settings for creative work,
or when I'm out and about with nothing but my smartphone,
I wish I could look it up when it suddenly pops into my head...
I wanted a tool that I could check quickly at times like that,
one that would let me reach the information I need in an instant.
About the features
Gem Notebook (β)
About the features of what I made
In addition to general information,
I focused on the aspect of "wanting to know immediately while on the go" when building it.
View in a list, search immediately
It goes without saying, but it should be something you can open quickly and narrow down by entering a word.

See "aliases" and "trade names" for the same stone on a single screen
This is important; it's good to be able to check everything at once

Understand the types of treatments
Information like this...

Can be used offline / Can be used at high speed
This is also important, right?
Because you never know if you'll have 100% internet access on-site.
An internet connection is required for the first launch, but once you've opened it,
you can use it offline from the second time onwards.
Might be useful for creative work or setting materials...
Wondering if a gem like this exists, or
wanting to look up the properties of this gem.
Notes
[Important] Regarding data accuracy
...Honestly, I haven't been able to check it much yet.
So please do not rely on it if you require accuracy.
I plan to gradually refine it and release updates in the future.
Regarding the handling of personal information
There is no mechanism to collect personal information or device information on our end.
How to launch
Regarding the public URL
I think you should be able to launch it from your browser.
Future prospects and requests
Things I want to do going forward
I released it with the mindset that this is the bare minimum needed for now...
However, I hope to do the following in the future.
I hope to do the following in the future.
Reviewing recorded data and improving accuracy
A 'My List' feature to record gems and minerals you have purchased yourself
A feature to add tabs that can extract data based on arbitrary conditions
Since this is a very early version, both the appearance and the data are still rough.
After actually trying it out,
This stone is missing
I want this kind of data for each gem
It might be convenient if I could search like this
The data is wrong!!! Fix it!!!
If you have any feedback or points to note, please feel free to send them via comments or the question box.
Feel free to send anything.
Email is also fine.
For those who love gems and minerals, or those who go around to events,
I thought there might be times when you want to quickly look something up on the spot.
I also think it might be useful when using it as reference material for creative work.
