1. What kind of stone is Morion in the first place?
How does it differ from quartz?
There are many types of quartz. Purple amethyst, yellow citrine, brownish smoky quartz... and when that smoky quartz becomes even darker and blacker, it is Morion (Black Quartz).
The difference in color is due to the influence of temperature, light, and radiation when the stone is formed. Since these are natural color variations, their powers also differ slightly.

It barely lets light through (the higher the quality, the less transparent it is)

I will start with the conclusion. Morion's amulet power is amazing.
