043. A Quest to Escape the Labyrinth of [Irritation and Anger] [Wisdom of the Sages to Calm the Flames of Anger] ~An Adventure into the Emotion of Anger~
Thank you as always🍀
I hope to provide you with
some new "insights" that will enrich your life.
I am "updating daily" because I want to
deliver tips that are useful for a better life.
Your likes, follows, and comments
are my greatest encouragement.
You sometimes find yourself feeling
"irritated" when remembering
something that happened yesterday, right?
Depending on the person,
some hold onto anger from years ago
as "resentment or obsession."
Some people are
clinging to irritation⚡.
Today, I would like to
think about separating:
・Being angry due to "emotion."
・Being angry due to "thought" memories.
💡
When you look up [emotion] in the dictionary...It refers to the "feelings and workings of the heart"that occur when you face
an event.
Recently, a technique called "Anger Management" has been gaining attention as a way to suppress the [emotion] of irritation.
For example,
it is said that the peak of anger lasts only about 6 seconds,
and
by
countingfrom 6 to 10 seconds in your head, you can calm your state of excitement,it is believed.
Besides that,
・Taking deep breaths
・Making a smile
seem to be other methods.
Today's main topic is
to delve into the
"irritation" of thoughtsstemming from past events.
This can be described as a state where
both your "mind" and "body"
are synchronized with the irritation [becoming one completely].
Your "thoughts" are in autopilotmode, andit is possible that
your thoughts are controllingyour "mind" and "body."
This "obsession" with irritation
caused by these "thoughts"
might be the source of your suffering.
Spending life with a "smile"
should be the standard, but...
it's hard to let go of past "irritation"...
and you end up attracting
even more "irritation"...💦
[Reality is a mirror of your heart.]
When you are feeling irritated,
don't you find that other irritating events
tend to pile up?
Your thoughts
call up past "emotions,"
[identifying] "me" with the "emotion,"
and [even though there is no irritating event in front of you right now...],
your thoughts are mentally and physically
drawing out "irritation."
※This "thought autopilot mode" also works
when you imagine things in your head
related to "tension," "anxiety," or "fear."
Physically,
reactions like
"pounding heart," "nervousness," or "fuzziness" occur,
and in reality,
・your heart rate changes,
・your hands sweat, or
・your muscles tense up,
which are the kinds of things that happen.
Along with this, if you are continuously
subjecting your body to stress or strain...
it may manifest as various symptoms such as [stiff shoulders, joint pain, neuralgia, headaches, stomachaches], etc.
Thoughts during autopilot mode
can be perceived as "thought = ego".
The reason you cannot control yourself
while in the midst of irritation
is that you are being swallowed by your ego,
a state of identification with the ego.
The 'False Self' (not living in this very moment)
And, if you
are stillin bed at night...
continuing to think about'negative things'
,you are
placing a [heavy burden]on both your
mind and body.
That is precisely why
[keeping a 'thought guard' stationed]
is so important, isn't it?
Previous article
The following may be a
'concept that cannot be understood [by thought]'
but...
In the first place,
the very concept of time
is something created by 'thought'.
It is said that the truth of the universe and the Earth
has no past or future,
and that only the moment called 'now' exists.
That is why,
in practices like Zen,
people train to focus their consciousness on 'here and now'
and let go of attachments.
However,
even if you try to 'understand' this concept of time 'through thought,' you will never be able to.
For now, what is important here is
'not trying to understand what you do not understand'.
When you try to understand, 'thought' kicks in,
but thought can only derive answers
from past experiences and knowledge.
It may not feel satisfying,
but if you leave it as it is,
a 'moment of understanding' will
surely come someday.
For now... here,
I would like you to just grasp that being too caught up in past events
is the cause of 'suffering'.
Returning to the topic...,
how can we suppress the
'irritation of thought'that comes from past events?
First,
it is important to notice [the autopilot of thought]
and stop it for a moment.
And then,
focus your consciousness on the moment called 'now'.
To do that...
・Taking a deep breath
is more important than you might imagine.
Other things include,
・Taking a breather with a cup of coffee or tea
・'Zoning out' without thinking about anything
・Listening to your favorite music
・Immersing yourself in a hobby
・Connecting with nature
I am sure you know that these actions are also
considered very effectivefor
distancing yourself from 'thoughts'.
Frustration caused by thinking is amplified
by linking it to other past events.
For example,
when you feel frustrated watching news about a celebrity's affair, isn't it possible that you are judging people in connection with your past experiences?
That is precisely why,
'Focus only on what is right in front of you now'
and while in as calm a state as possible,
try continuing to ask yourself questions.
'Why am I feeling so frustrated?'
While you are identified with your thoughts
and being controlled by them,
'you might be in a state where you don't really understand your own feelings or emotions,' but
from the automatic pilot mode,
at a detached level of consciousnessyou should be able to be calm and
little by little'face your own heart'.
It is okay if you don't find an answer right away.
Facing yourself slowly...
Try to cherish that kind of time.
For the time being, 'writing down'
the events that made you frustrated or negative
is also very effective
because it helps organize your emotions and put them into words.
When you have calmed your feelings
and are in a state where you have separated your thoughts from 'my consciousness,' the following question is also, I think, very effective.
'What lesson was this (frustrating) event meant to teach me?'
Everything in this world is a mirror of the heart.
Try looking back at it from the perspective that perhaps the inside of your heart is being manifested in reality...
Also, if you are someone who tends to get frustrated by small things,
try the 'allow everything' game.(Forgive everything), (Everything is OK), (Everything is a circle/correct), etc.Try replacing it with words you like.
For example,
・'Allow the traffic light to turn red'
・'Allow the subordinate who made eye contact'
・'Allow myself for losing something'
・'Allow myself for carelessly bumping my foot'
・'Allow my partner for being late'
etc.
At first, you might remain 'frustrated',
but just muttering 'I allow it' is fine.
...Then, strangely enough,
I don't know if it's God or your subconscious,
but as if to test your 'allowance game',
it might just keep piling on
more 'frustrating events'!
However,
please keep trying to 'give permission' without giving up.
Then, at some point...
I think a moment will suddenly arrive when you find yourself ridiculous and
can 'laugh about it'.
If 'laughter wells up' triggered by such an event,
it is your victory.
It means a moment will arrive when you suddenly realize,
'Ah, this is just what life is like'...
It is natural for traffic lights to turn red.
When driving a car, you may encounter sudden cut-ins.
It also means that sometimes you will be kept waiting by others.
Once you become able to accept the phenomena in front of you,
you will start asking yourself,
'Why was I getting frustrated over something like this?',
and strangely, a moment will surely arrive when you can 'forgive'
without any resistance in your heart.
If you are prone to frustration,
please try this out like a game✨
But...
please be careful not to force this game on your partner or others
in an attempt to change them💦
