Have you ever had your social media post disappear while you were writing it?
Hello, I'm Mirai.
When you were writing a post on your smartphone for social media,
before you knew it, it was gone.
Even though you were writing it with all your heart.
Even though you had spent a long time writing it.
…Have you ever had an experience like that?
You accidentally pressed the browser's back button.
You performed a different action.
Your smartphone's power died.
I think there are various reasons for it.
When you are writing text directly from a social media app or browser,
there might be almost no way to recover it after it disappears.
Forgetting to save in Notepad or Word
Some of you might think,
“If only I had written it in Notepad or Word first...”
But, don't you forget the save button?
While you are engrossed in writing,
you might end up putting off saving,
and then your computer might crash, for example.
Are there apps that save without pressing a save button?
There are apps that automatically save the text you write,
without you having to press a save button.
No difficult settings are required.
It doesn't cost any money either.
The key is to choose one that fits
your smartphone or computer environment.
For iPhone/Mac, use the "Apple Notes app"
Is your smartphone an iPhone?
If you use an iPhone, I think you already have something you can use.
There is an app pre-installed on your iPhone called
“Notes”.
It is Apple's native Notes app.
Open Notes,
tap the pen icon in the bottom right,
and you can start writing immediately.
It can also do voice memos,
and you can also take handwritten notes using a stylus.
It's lightweight, and it's an excellent tool that even allows you to organize by folder.
I find it very useful because I can write whenever I feel like it.
And what I recommend is that
it saves automatically from the moment you start writing.
There is no need for a save button.
Even if you close it halfway through, it remains there, so you can rest easy.
If you have both an iPhone and a Mac,
log in with the same Apple ID on both.
That way, the text you write on your phone will be on your computer,
and the text you write on your computer will be on your phone,
automatically synced.
No matter which one you start writing on, the rest remains, so
you can comfortably continue writing,
using your computer at home and your iPhone when you're out.
For Android/Windows, use "Google Keep"
For those using an Android phone or
a Windows computer,
"Google Keep" is an available app.
If you have a Google account, you can use it right away.
If you use Gmail,
I assume you already have a Google account.
For smartphones, just install the app and
log in with your Google account.
For computers,
you can use it just by opening keep.google.com in your browser.
If you are logged in with the same account,
the notes you write on your phone will be reflected on your computer.
Since it saves automatically from the moment you input text,
even if you close it, it will remain there when you open it next time.
For iPhone/Windows, use "Google Keep"
For those who use both an iPhone and Windows,
this "Google Keep" can also be used.
Install the Google Keep app on your iPhone and
log in with your Google account,
and you can use the same notes as on your Windows computer.
For quick notes or drafts for social media posts,
I think the apps mentioned so far are sufficient.
When you want to write longer texts, there are other tools available.
Use Notion or Google Docs for long texts
"Notion" and "Google Docs",
"Obsidian" are apps
that are suitable for writing long texts.
All of them save automatically, and
you can check the same text on both your phone and computer.
First, try one for short notes or drafts,
and when you feel like writing more,
you might consider it as a next step.
When I am using my computer, I switch between "Obsidian" and "Google Keep,"
and when I am out, I use the "Apple Notes" app for voice memos on my iPhone,
and for text notes, I use "Google Keep."
Once I get home, I copy the transcribed text from "Apple Notes",
and paste it into Obsidian to organize it.
For those of you who have experienced the frustration of losing your text,
why not try just one thing today?
If you use an iPhone, when posting to social media,
it might be a good idea to type your post into a notes app first instead of writing it directly into the social media platform.
If you use Android or Windows,
try doing the same thing using Google Keep.
That alone should make writing text much easier.
It is also recommended for writing quick notes.
