[Self-Introduction] An average user who loves AI tools, collecting them casually and looking for uses persistently
Hello, I'm Mio.
Whenever I see a new AI tool, I can't help but get curious. I tend to open tools with cute designs or interesting names pretty quickly.
However, I don't keep them just because I'm excited.
I have a page in Notion called the 'Box to Open Later.' I toss the names of tools that catch my eye, what they seem capable of, and ways I want to try using them later into that box.
I am not an AI expert. My approach is pretty laid-back. But as an average user, I am quite persistent about looking into 'what can this be used for' and 'will this fit into my life.'
I might look friendly, but I'm actually quite skeptical.
When I look at introductions for AI tools, I see a lot of words like 'amazing,' 'revolutionary,' and 'this will change your workflow' floating around.
It's fun to see those kinds of words. But I stop there for a moment. Because what looks amazing and what I can actually keep using are probably two different things.
So, what can it actually do?
What kind of person would find it easy to use?
Conversely, where might I get stuck?
If I don't look into these things, I'll just end up with more bookmarks and nothing else. Even if it's a cute box, it's a waste to just let it pile up without looking inside.
What I usually try out
I often play around with ChatGPT, Gemini, and Notion AI.
When I want to polish some text, when I want to create a starting point for research, or when I want to summarize notes. I try incorporating them into my daily tasks and sort them into 'this seems like it will last' and 'this might not have much of a role for me right now.'
On days when I use them well, I make sure to take notes. On days when they were more ordinary than I thought, I want to write down the reasons why they were ordinary.
I open them casually, but I look at them quite closely.
Here, rather than grading new AI tools from an expert's perspective, I will write about the sensations I get from using them as an average user.
I generally look at these three things.
"What can it do?"
"What kind of tasks can it be used for?"
"What should I be careful about before using it?"
I will only cover complex topics where necessary. First and foremost, I want these notes to help reduce some of the uncertainty you might feel before using these tools. I will continue with a relaxed approach: keeping the entry point light while taking a proper look at the content.
I want to talk with people who like new things
Chasing after new tools is fun. However, it is difficult to try everything all by myself.
That is why I think of this note not as a presentation, but more like a place to talk with friends, asking things like, "Have you tried this?" or "Where do you think this could be used?"
