[Fitting Record] Impressions of the Muji Labo Cotton Work Shirt. It felt very good.

I tried on the new
Cotton Work Shirt
from Muji Labo, released on March 2nd, at the Yasukuni-dori store.

I thought it was the best among the brands in the same price range I've seen so far this spring, so I'm making a note of it.
Here are my impressions from trying it on.

A stylized, clean work design

It has a design with pockets on both sides of the chest, but they are clean pockets without flaps.
Although they are clean, the pockets themselves are large, so they have quite an impact.
I think this is purely for design, not for practicality.

I feel it's not a work design faithful to its roots, but one stylized with modern, mode-oriented values.
The collar is also somewhat sharp, pointed, and cool.

I don't know if I should say this, but overall, I thought it felt like Still by Hand (lol).

Surprisingly, shell buttons

And although I'm not certain, they looked like white mother-of-pearl rather than trochus shell (the black/gray versions looked like black mother-of-pearl) (sorry if I'm wrong).

Using shell buttons for 7,990 yen is quite rare, isn't it?
I had never seen that before.

Adopting the detail of dress-like shell buttons, which have a different aesthetic, for a design based on work (casual) wear.
I thought this sense of style was very mode-like and cool.

High-density, crisp fabric

The fabric is 100% cotton.
I think it's safe to call it broadcloth.

It has quite a high density and is crisp.
Personally, I thought it was a good fabric that felt sufficiently luxurious.

A new silhouette for Muji Labo

Muji Labo has released various shirts since the designer changed about two years ago.
There have been broadcloth as the main material, as well as cotton blends and brushed twill, among others.

I believe all of these used the same pattern (silhouette).
They were the same pattern in different materials.

However, this Cotton Work Shirt was a new pattern.
While previous items were vertically long, the work shirt has a boxy (horizontally long) silhouette with a shorter length.

Judging by this season's trends, the boxy fit might be more welcome.

Now that the pattern has changed, it seems worth trying for those who haven't felt comfortable with Muji Labo shirts until now.

It seems like it would offer a wide range of styling options.

Even with a relaxed style, worn untucked and unbuttoned to the second button, it looks cleaner than a standard work shirt, so it should work well.

Similarly, wearing it untucked and fully buttoned for a neat look also seems like it would work, as it highlights the impact of the work shirt.

Conversely, tucking it in and pairing it with something like black denim would also look cool.

In fact, even wearing it as an outer layer, the pockets give it an outerwear feel that would make it work.

So, I was able to imagine many different ways to wear it.
I feel like if I went down one size, I could pair it with wide pants to create a trendy A-line silhouette.
It was quite an exciting item.

That said, I haven't actually purchased it yet (lol).
For some reason, I've been fixated on black bottoms and blue tops this season...
If it had come in blue, I might have bought it (though maybe a blue work shirt would be too casual~).

Nevertheless, I think it's an interesting item for fashion lovers.
I wanted to write this down as an experience, so I'm sharing it as a quick note.

The fabric is sturdy, so I don't think I'd choose to wear this shirt once the daytime temperature hits around 25°C. (It is long-sleeved, after all.)
So, if you're interested, I think it's better to check it out and buy it sooner rather than later.
