"Challenge Renku!" (Kanna | Leader of the Okashi Exploration Team)
This is a project you can easily participate in from the comment section of Kanna | Leader of the Okashi Exploration Team's project article❣ We haven't covered Renku in the main Min-Hai tournament before, have we?
I wondered what Renku was, so I looked it up...👇
Renku is a literary art where you imagine the next verse based on the scene of the previous verse.
It's like the word-chain games we played as children; you should respond as quickly as possible, and the verse should be related to the previous one but have completely different content. Then, several people take turns alternating between long and short verses.
Renku consists of alternating long verses (odd-numbered verses) of 17 sounds (5-7-5) and short verses (even-numbered verses) of 14 sounds (7-7), meaning it progresses by adding verse B to verse A, and verse C to verse B.
"Oh... it sounds like it might be difficult even though I think I understand💦" If that's you, don't worry💗
Let's read rira-chan's explanation🎶
You enter them into the comment section in order: 5-7, 5-7-5, 5-7, etc. You create a haiku with 5-7-5, and a tanka by connecting 5-7-5 with 5-7.
Next, let's read Kanna-san's explanation on note🎶
We will take turns composing and connecting long verses (17 characters of 5-7-5) and short verses (14 characters of 7-7).
Person A: 5-7-5
Person B: 7-7
Person C: 5-7-5
Person D: 7-7
:
And so on.
Connecting to the previous person's verse is called 'tsukeku' (attaching a verse).
Person B, please attach a 7-7 so that A + B becomes one tanka (5-7-5-7-7).
Person C, please attach a 5-7-5 so that C + B becomes one tanka (5-7-5-7-7).
In traditional Renku, there is a rule to change the content between A+B and C+B, but since we want you to enjoy Renku casually in this infinite Renku, there are no such restrictions. You can use similar content or even the same words as many times as you like.

◉ We will be connecting them throughout the period of 10/27–30 in the comments section of this article (Kanna | Leader of the Okashi Exploration Team’s article).
◉ No greeting required.
◉ Anyone can join in as many times as they like, whenever they like.
◉ Consecutive posts are okay.
(Person A can reply to Person A’s own verse).
◉ If long verses or short verses overlap due to simultaneous posting, there is no need to delete them.
↑ This happens often. There is no need to delete or recreate them if they overlap. You can enjoy them as competitive works of appended verses.
If they overlap, the next person should choose from:
① Append to the earlier verse. ② Append to whichever one you like. ③ Append a verse broad enough to fit either one.
◉ No seasonal words required.
◉ Basically, we will not comment on appended verses.
◉ You are free to add explanations or a few words to your own verses.
