*Ended [Polar Bear Cup Pre-event] A Haiku from a Song [Haiku, Tanka, Senryu]
The 4th installment of the "A Haiku from a Song" project, which started in spring and is always very popular, has finally reached its winter version! ٩(๑òωó๑)۶

Winter is full of hit songs, and there are many songs themed around snow and Christmas, or songs that capture the beautiful atmosphere of winter. I'm sure everyone has a special song that holds deep memories for them.
It's great to indulge in those memories, or to immerse yourself in your favorite Christmas song. Why not compose a haiku or tanka based on a winter song you love?
For me, winter songs include back number's "Christmas Song" and SEKAI NO OWARI's "silent." Beyond the musicians I usually select, there are classics like Tatsuro Yamashita's "Christmas Eve," Yuming's "Koibito ga Santa Claus," and Junichi Inagaki's "Christmas Carol no Koro ni wa." If we're talking about Western music, there's Wham!'s "Last Christmas" and Mariah Carey, etc. These are all timeless masterpieces that seem fun to use regardless of the generation. ✨
But,
I've never done one from a song before,
how do I make one? σ(･ω･*)
It seems a bit difficult... 🤔
For those of you doing this for the first time, I will introduce a simple way to make one.
So, let's use my favorite song, SEKAI NO OWARI's "silent."
First, randomly choose words from the lyrics.
Pure white snow, silence, trapped words, can't sleep,
your voice, melting into my heart, the sound of my heart, even the snow can't take it away,
melting with body heat, a pure white world,
only I am dirty, Christmas, swimming through the night,
unknown time, snow globe, invisible stars,
a night without sound
From these, first, combine them like a puzzle to create 12 sounds. You can also change the endings of the words depending on the case.
Melting away, your voice,
only I, a dirty world,
a soundless snow globe,
pure white, words stolen away
Insert your favorite seasonal word (kigo) at the end.

Another way is to read the song's content carefully and write it in your own words. Since this song is about "feelings for a past love," I wrote:
Locking my love inside a snow globe
A snow globe isn't a seasonal word, but it feels wintery.
Furthermore, I will add the final seven-seven syllables to make it a Tanka.
Locking my love inside a snow globe
Waiting forever for the day spring arrives
But I am waiting forever for spring to come, for you to come.
And for Senryu, let's focus on the feelings of love.
I can't sleep because you aren't by my side
A bad habit of unconsciously following you with my eyes
In this way, I think it's relatively easy to create something by matching the song's atmosphere or borrowing words from it. Of course, you can do it your own way. It also seems like good practice for composing Haiku and Tanka. You are welcome to submit the works you create here to the main Polar Bear Cup event.
