To Receive Aeon's Shareholder Benefits: My Obsession with the Owner's Card and the 30-Share Hurdle
Moving changes not just your life, but your entire "economic sphere."
At my old place, there was a Seiyu nearby, and I lived a life of racking up Rakuten points. However, looking around my new neighborhood, all I see is Aeon.
As a resident of the Rakuten economic sphere, I feel a bit of sadness, but I believe in "when in Rome, do as the Romans do." I decided to take the plunge and shift my life to revolve around Aeon.
1. Issuing an Aeon Card and the Ambition of a "Family Card"
The other day, I immediately went to Aeon and applied for an Aeon Card.
Right now it's just me, but I plan to issue family cards for when my wife and child return. Efficiently accumulating WAON points and trimming waste from the household budget—the foundation for my new life is steadily being built.
2. Aiming for the Sanctuary Known as the "Owner's Card"
If I'm going to be in the Aeon sphere, the one thing I really want to get my hands on is the "Owner's Card."
The cashback benefit on shopping purchases received by holding 100 shares is the ultimate practical shareholder perk for an investor dad.
However, there was one miscalculation here.
I had bought about 30 shares last year when they were in the 1,000 yen range, but before I knew it, the stock price had climbed well into the 2,000 yen range. I am experiencing that classic investor agony of "if only I had bought more back then..."
3. 30 Shares to Go: Challenging with the "Reinforcements" of Dividends
While the stock price makes it daunting to buy all at once, I chose the path of steady accumulation.
I scraped together dividends earned from other stocks and managed to purchase an additional 40 shares.
Remaining to reach the goal of 100 shares: "30 shares."
Whether I can fill in this last piece by the rights-allotment date at the end of February—while keeping a close eye on charts and market trends, I am buying step by step with a strong will to "get the benefits right in front of me."
4. Investing to Enrich "Life"
While being swayed by the ups and downs of stock prices is part of the thrill of investing, my goal this time is strictly to "make my new life with my family more affordable and richer."
Even if I bought in at a slightly high price, considering that I will continue shopping at Aeon for many years to come, the value the Owner's Card brings is immeasurable.
I will work hard on my "steady accumulation" tomorrow so that I can stand tall as a 100-share holder on the February rights-allotment date!
