The Power of a "Like" | A Notification That Supports Someone's Back
It's been a little over two weeks since I started on note.
In the beginning, every time I posted, I would nervously press the "Publish" button, wondering, "How am I supposed to write an article?" or "Will anyone actually read this?"
I had come to this place called note and intended to write, but when it came time to actually post, I was filled with nothing but anxiety.
Most of the time, there was no reaction to what I wrote, and even when the view count went up a little, I couldn't even tell if it was someone other than myself.
Then, one day, I received my first "Like" on a post.
That one "Like" changed everything.
Just one.
But, a significant one.
The moment the notification popped up on my phone saying, "[Name] liked your article," my heart skipped a beat, and I instinctively took a screenshot. (I'm the type who screenshots everything anyway.)
"Someone read it."
"And what's more, they thought it was 'good.'"
That event, which might seem ordinary but is actually anything but, moved me with much greater force than I had imagined.
Even though I had only received one "Like," suddenly writing became fun, and I started thinking about what kind of article to write next.
I became able to press the post button while thinking, "I hope this reaches someone's eyes today, too."
Now I have a huge backlog of articles, to the point where I'm wondering which one to post next.
If it weren't for that "one Like" on that day, I might not have continued with note.
And now.
An article I posted the other day was chosen as having the most "Likes" between September 1st and 7th in the official note project "#FashionCommitment," and I received a Congratulatory Board.
When I saw the notification, I was truly surprised and didn't quite understand what it meant, but I knew this wasn't just an ordinary notification, and my hands trembled as I took a screenshot.
(I'm so glad I got into the habit of taking screenshots back then...!)
I feel like I've finally made it this far, connecting things little by little, starting from that "one Like" on that day.
So, what I want to convey now
Note can be a slightly scary place.
There are many different worlds, and you can be swayed by information, misunderstand things, or unintentionally wander into places you didn't intend to go.
Before you know it, you're writing, but there's no reaction, you're buried, and no one sees your work. In those moments, you start to wonder, "Is there any point to this?"
It's sad when there's no reaction to what you've written, especially when you've poured your feelings into it, and your motivation drops. Since you wrote it wanting people to see it, it's only natural to feel that way when you think no one is looking.
But by pressing "Like" on someone's article, you might just save that person.
It becomes the strength to keep going.
Because that's how it was for me.
"I wrote this much, so look at it!"
I am well aware that this is just the selfish demand of a writer.
Even so, when you feel even a little bit that something is "good" or "I get it," please do press the "Like" button.
That alone gives that person the energy to write another article.
I, too, want to be someone's "one Like"
Now, so that I don't forget how I felt back then,
I honestly press "Like" on articles I read and think are good. Comments are a bit of a high hurdle, but I definitely press "Like" a lot.
Some people might think, "This person is liking everything..." but I just thought it was good... sorry... I like it.
I would be happy if this article also reached someone, somewhere.
Perhaps, if you are feeling even a little bit lost right now.
I hope this writing can gently push you forward.
That is the thought with which I wrote this.
Thank you for reading!
The day I, who was saved by someone's "Like," was able to reach someone else in turn.
I left this article behind so that I wouldn't forget how I felt at that time.
