[Summer 2026 in Malaysia] Recommended for rainy or hot days! 2 indoor playgrounds in Penang
While Penang has plenty of outdoor spots to enjoy, the heat makes being outside all the time tough, so spending time in indoor playgrounds was a necessary choice!
I'll introduce two places that I'm glad we actually visited.
① Neonest (@Sunway Carnival Mall)
We went to play here on a Sunday.
We arrived around 11:00 AM, played plenty in the morning, had lunch, and then played again in the afternoon—a full-day course.
It's incredibly spacious with lots of play equipment to move your body to your heart's content, so even elementary school students could enjoy it without getting bored.
It felt larger in scale than indoor playgrounds in Japan, and there were spaces where parents could watch while taking a break, so it was comfortable even for a long stay.
It is highly recommended for days when you think, 'It's hot today, so I want to play indoors!'

② Pado Fantasyland (@1st Avenue Mall)
We used this place after school.
The atmosphere is similar to what we call 'Spo-cha' in Japan.
They have a 2-hour package, so it was perfect for days when we thought, 'Let's play just a little bit today.'
Since the time is set, the kids were able to play with focus and energy.
(Though I was told, 'I want to go again...')

After playing, we went to Sushi King (conveyor belt sushi) inside the mall.
The menu is super extensive, with not just sushi but also rice bowls, noodles, and even grilled meat, so it's perfect when you start missing Japanese food.
The taste was better than I expected and satisfying, but the sushi we ordered took quite a while to arrive...
My son was getting a little frustrated, saying, 'It's slow!!' (lol).
That laid-back pace, typical of being abroad, is also a memory of the trip, I suppose.
Penang has well-equipped shopping malls, so the indoor playgrounds are also high-level, and it was a huge help that the kids could spend time without getting bored even on hot or rainy days.And above all, I'm happy that it's very uncrowded compared to Japan!
