It was the first day of the new fiscal year and the weather was finally good, so I observed steadily throughout the night.
Around dawn, constellations that were not visible during the winter season began to appear, and the Orion Nebula—a bright HII region and diffuse nebula comparable to it—the Lagoon Nebula, entered my balcony's field of view, so I started stacking.
Since its apparent diameter is large, I adjusted the framing this time to include the brightest area near the center and enough stars to allow for stacking, and I also set the QBPIII filter to capture the nebula clearly. With one hour of stacking, centered on 9 Sagittarii, I was able to bring out the red gradient of the diffuse nebula and the depth and overlap of the dark nebulae.

It is said that it was named the Lagoon Nebula because the streak of dark nebula crossing the central diffuse nebula from north to south resembles a lagoon, but I don't quite understand the naming sense. In any case, it has long been a nebula suitable for observation, visible even to the naked eye, and I would like to try various things with it from now through the summer.
