Output is a form of healing
These are the words of psychiatrist Dr. Shion Kabasawa.
Output is also a form of "healing."
By sharing with others, your need for approval is satisfied, your self-esteem is boosted, and it leads to a sense of security.
You might have the image that output is something you do for someone else, or that you have to work hard to write articles or create nice-looking images.
But I think the most important thing is to do it for yourself. To make sure you don't forget. To deepen your learning. To organize your thoughts.
That's why, when I heard it called "healing," it really clicked for me.
Actually, the times when my output has increased have always been when I was busy. The period when I was updating my note most frequently was when I was a company employee.
Though, the content was often about my worries or feeling down.
People tell me, "It's impressive that you write note while working," but I realize now that I was just writing because it was healing for me.
I mean, you can't get through life without venting, right?
There might be many people who say they wouldn't die if they didn't write, but I think it would be quite tough if you were forbidden from talking or contacting anyone.
I'm not the type with high communication skills, so when I was in junior high school, I would vent the frustrations that built up inside me through notebooks, blogs, and chats.
And then, strangers would comfort me, saying things like, "That must have been hard."
At the time, I thought I was doing that because I was gloomy, but maybe I unconsciously knew how to heal myself.
Even now, as I write this little by little on the train, it feels less like I'm working hard to produce output and more like I'm just venting to a friend.
It might be a good idea to start writing with the intention of healing yourself in that way.
