I don't want anyone to have expectations of me. I'm happy when people say, 'You're such a baby.'

It's honestly pretty wild.

A friend of mine recently said, 'I've been asking people around me what compliments they like to hear and which ones they don't,' and when they asked me, my answer was more pathetic than I expected.

The compliments I like to hear are 'You can't do anything, can you?' and 'You're such a baby!', while the one I don't like is 'You're so reliable!'

I assume most people feel the opposite, but I don't want to be thought of as reliable. Because then I'd have to be reliable. People would have expectations of me. And living like that is exhausting.

Some of my friends are actually thrilled when they're told, 'You're so reliable!', and get annoyed when they're told, 'You're a bit scatterbrained!', so maybe I'm in the minority. But I hate it. I don't want to be reliable.

With that in mind, I don't really want anyone to have any expectations of me at all.

I want people to think, 'I asked them to do a task randomly, and they actually turned in something pretty good.'Otherwise, I feel a mysterious pressure. If the bar is set too high here, people might say things like, 'I thought you could do more.' I don't want that. I want to aim for a steady upward trajectory. That's why it's best if the default expectation is somewhere below ground level.

If you're a super-amazing person, people will demand amazing things from you, but if your default is 'baby,' everything you do gets praised.'You're a baby, but you're amazing!' is what happens. That's the level of expectation I want to live with.

I'm not good at waking up in the morning and usually sleep until about 11:00, so when I occasionally wake up around 9:00, my mom tells me, 'Good for you for being up,' which is a huge bargain.I get praised like crazy even though it's not early at all.

Well, I don't sleep in on purpose; I just end up being a baby as a result, but come to think of it, it's been like that since my days as a corporate employee.

When I was given a goal, I wasn't like, 'Haha, piece of cake,' but rather, 'Waaah, I don't know if I can do it, but I'll try my best.' In fact, even now, I approach things feeling like, 'Waaah, I'll do my best,' and I feel like I get evaluated as, 'You can do more than I thought.' It feels really good.

So, today too, I'm going to keep lowering the bar as much as possible. Just being alive is impressive. Just breathing is impressive. Just working is impressive. And on top of that, I even achieved results, which is super impressive. Even though I'm a baby.
