[Shocking] A Thai man's unexpected reaction to a 'cockroach' that suddenly appeared in the room!!

When I was living in Sydney, Australia, I had a Thai boyfriend.
He lived with his Thai brothers (what you might call close friends), and I used to go over to their house all the time.

It was a house full of guys in their 20s who loved to eat and drink.
Food scraps on the floor were an everyday occurrence. The floor was so dirty that I couldn't possibly walk on it barefoot, so I even kept my own pair of slippers there.

The sudden 'cockroach' invasion

One evening, we were all relaxing in the room.
Suddenly, something black and moving under the low table caught my eye.

(Hmm? What is... something black is moving... by my feet... its legs are skittering...!!!!)

“Eekkkkk!!! A, a cockroach!!!”

My scream echoed throughout the room.

It was an invasion of a cockroach (hereafter referred to as 'C') that arrived like a bolt from the blue on a peaceful afternoon.

I absolutely hate cockroaches. Having one get that close to me sent my brain into a panic.
It was a 'C-panic' instead of a 'Crocodile Panic'.
Although it doesn't cause physical damage like a crocodile, the psychological damage is immense.

Everyone was startled by my voice, and when they checked where I was looking,
they laughed nonchalantly, saying, 'Oh, it's just a cockroach! You screamed so loud I thought something happened. You scared me! (laughs)'.
Meanwhile, I was in a total panic.

I've heard that Thailand is a tropical country with many insects, so they probably have a high tolerance for them, but the difference in our reactions to this cockroach was stark.

The cockroach was also in a panic at this unexpected turn of events!

I expected them to deal with the cockroach properly, but I was shocked by their actions.

To my surprise, they all gathered around and started kicking the cockroach with their feet.

(What... what is this... no way...)

Guy A: 'Hey, over there!'

Guy B: 'Here, now it's over here!'

All the guys: 'Hahahaha!!'

Is it a cultural difference... no, it must just be their own way of having fun...
The cockroach surely never dreamed it would be treated like a soccer ball.
If it survived to tell the tale, it would definitely be passed down as a legendary experience for generations to come.

Helpless, I kept as much distance as possible from the roach, hiding against the wall while watching their bizarre behavior.

The fear of not knowing when the roach might fly and take its revenge.
Once a soccer ball grows wings and suddenly turns into a Quidditch Snitch, there's no stopping it.
Only a skilled Seeker can catch it.

Me: 'Hurry up and do something about that thing!!!!'

He killed the roach in response to my desperate plea,
and the match was over.

'Phew!!!'

And so, another day with my fun Thai boys came to an end.
