#2 [I Made It] Mushrooms
[I Made It / I Drew It]
My 8-year-old son loves making things and drawing. He doesn't go to school, but he's always creating something. This is a series where I (on my own initiative) introduce his works from his perspective.
My little brother loves mushrooms.
Do you know this song?
"Dokonoko no Kinoko"
It's addictive, isn't it?
Once you hear it, you can't get it out of your head.
There was a time when I listened to it on YouTube constantly. I'd even sway along, pretending to be a mushroom myself. My mom got brainwashed too, and she'd be humming it while she cooked.
My brother's birthday present was a mushroom.

He's had it with him all the time, so it's gotten a bit dirty from sweat and drool.
Anyway, I once made a mushroom for my brother.
This one.

A poisonous mushroom. Apparently, it's a symbol of happiness in Europe.
I crumpled up aluminum foil, hammered it into a mushroom shape, and covered it with electrical tape.
I had various adults cut the little white spots into small pieces and stick them on for me. They were complaining about how it was too much work, but well, I told them it was good brain training.
My brother was super happy with it.
Then, the other day, our family went camping. When we were walking through the forest, there were mushrooms growing everywhere, and my brother got so excited. He kept saying, "A mushroom! And here! Oh! Another mushroom here!!!" and we couldn't move forward at all.
That guy, honestly.
After we got home, I wanted to make mushrooms again.
This time, I made a fly agaric out of clay.

My dad painted it for me. When he saw the finished product, he seemed to get an idea.
He started making something out of clay. Then, he used various things from my craft supplies and spent a few days making this for me!
Ta-da!

The frog is amazing, right? My dad is really something.
He said he used resin to make the water droplets.
Looking at this, I felt like making some again, so I made these while looking at an encyclopedia.

Like this!
Ta-da!

apparently it smells like sakura mochi.
On the left, a porcini mushroom (Boletus edulis),
a high-class edible mushroom popular in Europe, and I think it's called porcini in Italian?

Oh, and my little brother drew some mushrooms too.
Mom was grumbling something like, 'I bought these POSCAs for nothing!', so he had no choice but to draw. Those two make me laugh.

What's up with that?
By the way, I'm currently making a life-sized fly agaric.

I just can't stop with the mushrooms.
Non-stop mushrooms.
Endless mushrooms.
And you know, Mom seems super happy for some reason.
When Dad and I made mushrooms, for some reason Mom's excitement was even higher than my brother's.
She was saying things like, 'I'm going to show these to Mr. Mushroom!' or something.
Who is Mr. Mushroom?
Is it a person?
Isn't it a mushroom?
Is Mom okay?
'Will it be finished by Saturday? I want to show it to Mr. Mushroom!'
She actually said that.
I have absolutely no idea what she's talking about.
Well then, that's all for today.
Bye-bye.
