The story of how the world shifted the moment I truly asked, 'What should I do?'
The story of how the world shifted the moment I truly asked, 'What should I do?'
This is a record of how I, having lived by my parents' values for 54 years, reclaimed my 'own voice' through journaling.
I hope this reaches those walking the same path.
I had done everything I could on my own.
There was nothing more I could do by myself.
There are moments like that,
a few times in life.
Four years ago.
I was working the late shift
in a factory clean room.
From 1:00 PM until just after 9:30 PM.
That day, a problem occurred at the very end of my shift.
One of the products
looked wrong no matter how I checked it.
But I didn't know the cause.
'Maybe this will fix it'
'No, maybe it's this'
I tried approaching it from various angles.
But only time kept passing.
Before I knew it,
it was nearly 9:30 PM.
If I missed that time,
I wouldn't make my usual train.
If I missed this one, I would have to wait 30 minutes
for the next one.
And it was an unmanned station.
I was truly terrified of that time spent
waiting on a dark platform.
Furthermore,
the company gate would close too.
I had to change out of my work clothes
and get outside by 9:35 PM.
I was completely,
at my wit's end.
But there was no one nearby,
and no time to call the leader and explain.
I had done everything
I could possibly do.
Yet,
nothing was working.
Only time was passing by...
At that moment,
I screamed in my heart.
'What am I supposed to do about this!?'
I was truly,
desperate.
...Calm down... Let's calm down for a second.
I was calmly thinking of a question from this situation.
A question to reach the ideal state.
It was that very moment.
The phone in the clean room rang.
"Hmm?"
I thought.
The phone almost never rings
at that hour.
Besides, I was the only one
on the late shift.
When I answered the phone,
it was the leader.
"You're about to finish soon, right?"
"Is everything okay?"
I got goosebumps.
"It's not okay! I'm really in trouble right now!"
I immediately explained the situation.
Then,
"Understood, I'm coming over now,"
they said,
and one minute later,
the leader arrived.
And,
it was solved in just three minutes.
"It's easy if you do it this way,"
they said while doing it.
I safely
made it to the gate.
I also made it to the train.
But,
the biggest thing for me
wasn't that "the problem was solved."
"The moment I held a question,
the world moved."
That was what I felt.
Of course,
it might have been a coincidence.
But,
for me, it was different.
At that time,
I didn't just wish for someone to "help me."
I had done everything
I could do myself.
Even then, it was impossible.
So finally,
"Well, what now?"
I asked,
throwing the question out to the world.
Then,
reality responded.
That was the feeling.
Even now,
I still value questions very much.
Because,
a question is
not just for finding an answer.
A question
opens up
a closed world.
"Why am I so useless?"
When you ask that,
the world begins to show you "proof of your uselessness."
But,
"How can I make this work?"
When you ask that,
possibilities that were invisible
begin to appear, little by little.
And lately, I
have been living with this question in mind.
"What is life asking of me?"
The answer
does not come immediately.
But,
if you live while holding that question,
I feel that your relationship with life
begins to change, little by little.
If you are currently
standing still, wondering, "What should I do?"
It is okay not to rush for an answer.
From the moment you hold the question, life begins to move, little by little.

📓 Today's Question (3 minutes)
What is something you currently feel is "beyond help"?
When you ask yourself, "How can I make this work?" regarding that, what kind of scene comes to mind?
(It is okay if you don't have an answer. Just by holding the question, the world begins to move.)

"I'm interested in journaling"
"I'm interested, but I can never keep it up..."
"I don't really know what journaling is, but I kind of want to try it"
If your heart has been moved even a little by these thoughts, please feel free to send me a DM.
I host "Morning Journaling" online every morning from 6:30 for 30 minutes.
Things that you cannot continue alone can, strangely enough, turn into comfortable habits when you are with someone else.
