Why the protagonist who fights with "words" is so thrilling: The appeal of Nihon Sangoku
I started watching Nihon Sangoku a bit cautiously, wondering if it was a historical drama.
By the time the first episode ended, I was completely hooked.
A protagonist who fights with "words" rather than physical force.
A world-building where Japan has declined from the Reiwa era.
The foolishness of humanity, and the ensemble drama that moves forward regardless.
I especially love the "still image" direction in the anime,
and the moment it freezes at a crucial juncture,
the characters' emotions come across most vividly.
I wanted to talk about it a bit more, so I discussed it in an after-talk on my podcast.
