I Tried Gathering 'Cute' Things to Make an Altar

In an article I wrote some time ago, I mentioned that after I started wearing pink, everything around me became pink. I feel like keeping things I love nearby helps stabilize my heart. I imagine many people feel the urge to decorate their rooms with their favorite things or color-coordinate their space with colors that make them feel calm.

At that time, I didn't 'set out to collect' pink items, but there is one thing I have been consciously collecting. That is Java sparrow merchandise. The reason behind this collection is that ever since the Java sparrow I loved passed away over a decade ago, my mother hasn't agreed to let me keep another one. I completely understand how she feels. But the love for Java sparrows overflowing in my heart knows no bounds.

I bought a Java sparrow pouch when I saw one at a variety store, I bought a Java sparrow strap at Design Festa, and if I see Java sparrow goods in a capsule toy machine, I spin it over and over. I had been carefully keeping the collection I gathered this way, but I finally decided to try doing something with it myself.

The space I created has become a wonderful spot where all the Java sparrow goods I've been diligently collecting are gathered together. In the very back is an exceptionally large, fluffy felt Java sparrow pouch. It was likely made as a pencil case, so it's quite big.

As I arranged the Java sparrow goods around it, a space was created that looked as if many Java sparrows were worshipping that large one. And so, I call that place the 'Java Sparrow Altar'.

I don't usually collect merchandise even when I get into a certain work or series. But when I thought about it, I realized I have a weakness for Java sparrow goods. Apparently, there are actually Java sparrow merchandise events held in various places, and some people sell them online. But still...! I insist on sticking to chance encounters. I don't really know why, though.

By the way, the reason this came to be called an 'altar' is because I saw on X how fans would place a table against a wall and display a huge amount of merchandise for a character's birthday. I am often surprised by the ways otaku express their love. They travel with acrylic stands and take photos of them, after all.

Although I can't compare to those otaku, I, who am also an otaku, took that wonderful wisdom and created this place. Even though it's a modest altar, I am very satisfied with it. This is truly my best place! When I'm at home, I sometimes gaze at it and bask in the joy. Yeah, a place where cute things are gathered is the best. I really thought, 'Cute is justice'.

Of course, I envy households that have pets like dogs, cats, birds, or hamsters. But there are also places like ours where we can't keep them due to circumstances. Even in such times, it's a good thing that there are places to enjoy such goods, as well as videos and images that can be seen online.
