[Drop-in participants welcome!] We are doing the #PulpAdventCalendar2022

You are a writer, aren't you? No, that's not it. I said you are not a person who |can write|, but a person who |shall write|.
Even during busy times, putting everything else aside, you are a person who writes the stories that come to mind... a person who cannot help but write... aren't you.

The good fellow smoking a candy cane speaks to you.

How is everyone? I am a tanuki. I am Hajime Mutsugi.

With the Reverse Jet Novel Awards having shown great excitement this year and now having safely concluded, and with 2022 beginning to show its end, how are all you pulp-slingers doing? With the required number of entries reduced by one, are your brain chemicals exploding, and are you gleaming with unspent creative desire?

And so, that time of year has arrived again, where we liven up the year-end excitement with pulp and use it as vitality for the coming year.
Pulp Advent Calendar 2022, let's do it!

What is a Pulp Advent Calendar?

Officially, the dates seem to vary, but generally, there exists in this world an exciting object called an "Advent Calendar," which has 24 small windows from December 1st to December 24th, and every day, chocolates, toys, poems, or illustrations come out of them. At one point, the Apple company was giving away songs and such for free, but I wonder if they don't do that anymore?
Regardless, this is the pulp novel version of that.

Since this is an "Advent Calendar," it is not a competition, and there are no prize monies or Corona beers. Rather, as mentioned above, it is a project intended to give the world the excitement of what will come out each day, so the goal is for everyone to post pulp and have a good time!

Rules

▶︎Basic Rules

・One piece per day, taking turns posting short pulp novels to your respective note accounts!
・If possible, please have the person in charge for each day post during the morning of their assigned day! (A goal to strive for)
Even if you are not the person in charge, drop-in participation is very welcome.

▶︎Rules for Posting

・Please include "#PulpAdventCalendar2022" in the title!
・Please insert a link to this article within your post!

▶▶Please cooperate for collection efficiency.
・Please post a completed short story!
▶▶Ending with "to be continued" like in the Reverse Jet Novel Awards is NG.
・The character count should be between 800 and 15,000 characters!
▶▶This is a new rule starting this year. There is no penalty if you break it, but Mutsugi-kun will make a sad face.

▶︎Regarding Genres and Themes

There are no genre restrictions.
A Christmas theme is fine. It doesn't have to be.
A newly written piece is fine. A continuation of the 800-character piece written for the Reverse Jet Novel Awards is also fine.
However, please refrain from fan fiction or reposting existing works.
Please, only new pulp works.
Also, this is not a rule or anything, but as a small "request", I would appreciate it if you could refrain from stories that are just sad.

How to Participate

▶︎Participating as a person in charge

Applications are now closed!

[Notes]
Assigned dates will basically be decided randomly. If there are any dates that won't work for you, please write that in the form.
・If there are more than 24 people, recruitment will end at that point. If you miss out, please participate as a drop-in!
If there aren't enough people, Mutsugi-kun will likely write them on leaves while crying... Probably...

▶︎Participating as a drop-in

Drop-in participation is very welcome again this year.
The submission period is 12/1 0:00 to 12/24 23:59!

As long as you follow the rules above, I will collect them in the magazine. Even if you have applied as a daily contributor, drop-in participation is very welcome if you have the capacity. Please feel free to fire off a second or third entry.

▶︎What is Pulp?

As usual, I will explain by quoting the words of Diehardtales, the proponents of modern pulp fiction.
For now, if you think it's pulp, it's pulp. I don't care about other people's agreement, we will fully affirm it!

I will not provide any specific definition or explanation regarding what a "pulp fiction work" is. I am looking for modern, broadly defined pulp fiction. If you think "this is pulp," then it is pulp, so please try posting without worrying too much about it.

If you read Diehardtales publications or Soichiro Gyakufunsha's "How to Write Pulp Fiction," you should be able to get a general idea. However, do not be bound by this framework; please submit the modern pulp fiction work that you envision. As for subgenres, it doesn't matter if it's a mixture of any elements such as SF, fantasy, crime suspense, mystery, period pieces, animals, horror, adventure, etc. You can feel free to submit it as if it were a daily practice.

We will hold the "Gyakufunsha Novel Grand Prize 2022" in October 2022 Excerpt from

Note that this event is a hobby project by volunteers, so it has absolutely no relation to Diehardtales or Ninja Slayer. I would really appreciate your understanding on that point.

I guess that's about it.

Applications to participate as a contributor and same-day drop-in participation are both very welcome.
I look forward to everyone's work! Arrivederci.

Regarding the change of organizer

Since this content is unrelated to the project itself, I will add it briefly at the end: as a result of the intersection of the requests from various people like Mutsugi Hajime who wanted to do it again this year because it's an annual event, even though Momonoji-kun, who has organized it for years, is busy, this unworthy tanuki has become the organizer. Nothing has been decided about rotating organizers or returning to Momonoji-kun next year, so what will happen in 2023 is completely undecided.
