The mysterious man S appears

I was introduced to a mysterious man named S who had an unusually intense gaze.

Handsome guy: "This guy is an acquaintance of mine. He's the same age as me and he's a business owner!!!"

...That's already such a classic MLM recruitment vibe lol

However, I was naive at the time🙄

Me: "Nice to meet you. Y-san gets so many contracts at the store. I'm always grateful for him😊"

Me: "S-san, you're a business owner?! That's amazing!!!!"

Since I didn't have anyone like that around me, I was overwhelmed by the title of "business owner" (lol)

S: "Nah. I just happened to be lucky, it's not amazing at all☺️"

Handsome guy: "S-san is the one hosting this party too!!"

Me: "Oh wow. Amazing😳"

Me: "But why did you introduce this person to me? 🤔"

Handsome guy: "Well, you were worried about the shop, right!! I thought this person would be able to help you with your problems, Metako-san! 😃!!"

Actually, at this time, I was struggling with my job as a "store manager."

• The staff wouldn't listen to me

• The store wasn't performing well

• I couldn't manage the team well

• I thought they saw me as a hag 👹 (though this was probably just my paranoia lol)

I had let these worries slip to the handsome guy while we were out drinking...

Even though he was a temp worker, he was older than me, so it was easy to talk to him about these things.

And at that time, rather than wanting to quit my job, I wanted to become a good store manager who could bring everyone together.

I mean, if I was worried about things like this, I should have consulted a trusted boss 👊!!!!

...is what I want to tell my past self (lol)

But instead of my company boss, I ended up trusting this handsome temp worker.

Man. As expected of a former host (self-proclaimed)!!! Bravo (lol)

MLM recruitment tropes? Off to a consultation session

After that, the drinking party moved to a place that looked like a VIP room in the back, and it turned into a sort of consultation session with just the three of us: me, the handsome temp worker Y, and the mysterious business owner S (lol)

And this mysterious business owner S was surprisingly good at listening to people.

He didn't deny a single thing I said and was so empathetic 🥹

As expected of an Amway upline. No wonder they attract followers.

Before long, my consultation session turned into...

S: "Do you have any dreams?"

S: "What kind of life do you want to lead, Metako-chan?"

S: "Do you want to keep doing your current job forever?"

He steered the conversation toward things like that.

The scheme is just too good.

It's no wonder people with darkness in their hearts fall for it so easily.

And then the topic...

And when the topic shifted to my current job...

S: "So, Metako-chan, what do you want to do from here on out?"

Me: "Hmm. Well, I do want to live my life doing what I love, like traveling abroad, but for now, I think I want to become a store manager with strong leadership skills."

S: "That's amazing!! You're so positive✨️"

Handsome Guy: "Yeah, yeah!! That's our Metako for you!!"

How should I put it, these people are really good at complimenting others.

Maybe what I, as a store manager at the time, was lacking was the ability to compliment others🙄

S: "Actually, I mentioned I was running a business, but Y is helping me out with that management side of things."

Me: "Come to think of it, what kind of business are you running?"
