[Call for Submissions] Loved then and now. #TheLongSellingPictureBooksIGrewUpWith (Submission period until 9/20/2023)
There are times when I end up buying a magazine just for a special feature, even if it's not one I usually buy. The next issue of the picture book information magazine "Kono Hon Yonde!" (published by JPIC, on sale 9/5) has a feature that I'm sure many people will feel the same way about, so I'd like to introduce it!
That feature is
“Long-selling picture books I grew up with”

I don't think there's anyone who doesn't know them! Guri and Gura! I love them...
There are truly many picture books that have been loved for a long time. Books I read when I was small are still sold today, and they continue to be read by children, or even grandchildren.
In this feature, they will be introducing picture books that have been loved by many children across generations, from the 1950s to the 1980s.
When there's a feature like this, I find myself looking to see if the picture books I loved are included. Since there are so many long-loved picture books, if you make "yourself" the subject, it seems like everyone has their own special picture book and story. There are cases where people reunite with them as adults, and some people might have kept them carefully all this time. Or books where you can't remember the title or the specific content, but you remember that you loved them...
So, I decided to jump on this feature and start a project!
The theme is "The long-selling picture books I grew up with"
It can be about the picture book itself, or an event related to that picture book.
The point is "I," so anything goes as long as it's a picture book you feel you've had a long relationship with, and it doesn't matter when it was released. It's also fine if it's a picture book you hope will be loved for a long time to come. Please feel free to interpret this broadly.

By the way, there is a picture book that I loved very much, but I can't remember the title or the proper content...
My memory is of a small child walking while meeting various animals, and as the footsteps increase, the sounds keep repeating...
Like, toko-toko, peta-peta, patan-patan...
I think it was a story that felt a bit anxious or lonely rather than a fun parade, but I don't remember the specifics.
I want to read it again. It's a picture book that I'm curious to feel again why I loved it so much that only the impression remains so strongly.
