[Call for Submissions] Adults, why not write a summer essay too? #MyJobExplainedToMyChild (Submission period: 6/3–8/31)
Book reports are a staple of summer vacation homework.
Today, I would like to introduce a book recommended for a book report assignment, and also offer a suggestion:
why don't you, as a parent, write an essay addressed to your child?.
Summer reading assignment corners are starting to appear in bookstores. Perhaps the most famous one nationwide is the "National Book Report Competition."
There are many others, such as prefecture-specific recommended reading lists or even book report art competitions that aren't based on writing; it's quite interesting to look into, even for adults.
Media Pal also has one book we would love for you to write a report on, and we have started making it available on NetGalley. I have introduced it on note several times, but I would like to recommend it again this summer. It is
"My Dad, My Mom" by Phronesis Oinsha.

It contains two stories: "My Dad" and "My Mom." Both works arestories inspired by actual poems written by children about their parents' jobs. They depict the honest feelings children have toward their parents' work.
There are many kinds of jobs in the world. Some are popular jobs that appear in future dream rankings, while others are jobs that don't get the spotlight and aren't very well known.
I think this book is a great opportunity to feel that many different people's jobs support the world, and that there are many different kinds of "cool."
On NetGalley, we have made one of the stories, "My Dad," available, so I would be happy if you could read it first and leave a review.
If you like it, please buy the book and read it with your child.
(Of course, I would also be happy if you shared your thoughts on note! In that case, if you add the tag #MyDadMyMom, I will be able to find it!)
And on note, why not try writingan essay explaining "your job" to your child?
So, this is a call for submissions!
[How to participate]
・Submission period: 6/3–8/31
・You can participate as many times as you like!
・Please add the tag #MyJobExplainedToMyChild.
・To prevent us from missing your entry, please include a link to this article.
・The articles you submit will be compiled into a magazine at a later date.
While the main theme this time is "addressed to your child," irregular entries are welcome if there is someone else you want to tell!
Feel free to write to a parent, a friend, a teacher who helped you, etc.
Please try writing about your own job—what kind of work it is, what the difficulties are, what the joys are, what you think about while you work... write it as if you are explaining it to your child or someone else.
※ Reading "My Dad, My Mom" is not a requirement for participation. (But I would be happy if you did read it.)
In the spirit of a summer assignment, I have set this as a relaxed, long-term submission period until the end of August.
Please, by all means, participate!
