Takopa Gymnastics [Weekly Short Short]
“Whoosh.”
Akari woke up on the ocean floor.
It seems she had fallen into the sea while chasing a crab on her way home from school.
When she strained her eyes, she saw the sea creatures busily moving their bodies.
When she asked an octopus what they were doing, it said they were doing “gymnastics.” You need muscle strength to swim.
“There are many natural enemies in the sea, so the faster you can run away, the longer you can live.”
“Can you run away from humans, too?”
When Akari asked that, the creatures turned around.
“What do you mean? Are humans our enemies, too?”
“We eat sea creatures. Delicious octopus is essential for a takopa!”
The village fishermen catch seafood. People cherished and ate the bounty of the sea. Akari, who thought that was a natural part of life, did not understand why the octopus would view humans as enemies.
“It can’t be helped. Because we eat to survive.”
The moment it heard that, the octopus’s expression changed.
“Then, it can’t be helped if I eat you, either.”
The creatures attacked all at once, and everything went pitch black before Akari’s eyes.
