Let's Have a Small Chat - What Does It Mean to Be an Adult? -
The "Let's Have a Small Chat" meeting held last April, six months ago. We have decided to hold the second one :)
* Impressions of the first meeting (note)
It seems I have an urge to expand and deepen my thoughts like this from time to time.
Since note is always a place for me to put my inner thoughts into words, I am writing this here in the hope that it will be an opportunity to post this and have a thorough conversation with those connected through note.
I am both excited and nervous to meet those who joined last time as well as new people.
If you are interested in the theme below or in having a small, intimate conversation, I would be happy if you felt free to join.
==========
What does it mean to be an adult?
This is a project to have a small, yet thorough discussion about things that we think about repeatedly in our daily lives, even if they don't quite reach the level of problems or worries. It is an idea born not from calculations of profit or loss, but simply from the curiosity of two people.
There are many things that don't have a single correct answer, and in the end, we each have to figure out how to deal with them in our own way, but I hope that just having a place to share everyone's current situation and opinions will provide some hints or make things a little easier.
The theme this time is "What does it mean to be an adult?"
We all age equally, and as adults, we have more opportunities to interact with people both younger and older than ourselves.I sometimes feel that age might not actually have much to do with "being an adult" or "being mature."I feel that way sometimes.
I would like to explore what kind of adult, and furthermore, what kind of person I want to continue to be.
If you ever feel things like this, please join us.
I wonder what has changed since 10 years ago
What are the people I admire like?
What is the difference between an adult and a child?
I find myself unconsciously suppressing things because I'm an adult now
Isn't being an adult about lowering entropy?
What is essential for a mature adult?
And so on. While laying out the impressions we had when talking between the two of us, I would like to have a calm, small, and intimate dialogue on this theme again this time. I hope it will be a time to gather with people who feel a bit unsettled, and to broaden our perspectives and horizons regarding adulthood.
*Sharing is welcome. If you know anyone who might be interested, I would be happy if you could share this with them.
*Please refrain from participating with the motive of solicitation (business, religious, or otherwise).
*There will be absolutely no coaching or business solicitations.

When faced with the word "adult," I first feel a sense of inadequacy. I don't have a role in society, I'm not a parent, I get swayed by my emotions and can't stay calm, I don't have my feet on the ground... Later, a bit of resentment also emerges. If I fulfill my role, am I mature? Do I have to raise children to become an adult...? And so on. I feel restricted by the concept of an "adult." It makes me tense up. Therefore, I would like to gather with those who join this time to broaden our thoughts and perspectives, and gain some hints. While thinking about what being an adult means to me, I hope to aim for a way to relate to being an "adult" with a bit more ease.

Ever since I started working, I have likely accepted the flow of being "socially an adult," but I thought I would like to take a moment in this space to think more broadly about what it means to "be an adult" and "become an adult." The words that immediately come to mind are calmness, a sense of security, and inclusiveness. I would be happy if we could discuss what words you all associate with it, or if there is anything you aspire to be like in this intimate gathering. Furthermore, even if we use the word growth, we rarely have the opportunity to voice our thoughts on maturity, so I am looking forward to seeing what kind of exchange of opinions we will have.
