Hot Road 1, 2 / Taku Tsumugi

From my pile of unread books📚, I read Taku Tsumugi's paperback comics
"Hot Road 1" and "Hot Road 2"📖´-
(Finished reading on April 27, 2022)

It's been a while since I last read Hot Road.
This is my first time re-reading it in over 20 years.
Even now that I am a fully grown adult, my heart still aches for the world surrounding Kazuki and Haruyama.

I don't understand the world of motorcycle gangs.
When I was young, I was rebellious in a completely different way, and I never admired motorcycle gangs.
But I do understand the kind of inner conflict that this generation feels.

As the eldest daughter, I was the first child my parents ever raised.
They must have been growing through trial and error along with me, but when I reached adolescence, I think neither of us knew what to do.
Looking back now, I realize how clumsy we both were.

My parents had no toxic traits at all; they are wonderful people who, despite their clumsiness, believed in me with all their hearts.
Even so, there was a time when I couldn't even accept that.
I don't really understand it myself, but I felt like they were a nuisance.
And so, in my late teens, I left my parents' home.
Immature and selfish, I shook off the hands of the people who cared for me so deeply.

I think it was right around that time that I first encountered Hot Road.
Although Kazuki and Haruyama live in a different world, their painful feelings felt like looking at myself.
And now that time has passed and I've re-read it after more than 20 years, my heart aches for Kazuki and Haruyama again, but I feel like they taught me something important.

"Love" without resolve is not "love," but merely "infatuation."
The two young people, though clumsy, learned what "love" was and nurtured it with resolve.
Perhaps it is time for me to think seriously about "love" once again.

When people know true "love," they can finally see the truth of the world.
And when someone you can cherish appears, you can finally realize that you are someone's precious person.

I will keep this book on hand, looking forward to meeting Kazuki and Haruyama again in a few years.
