This sense of ease is comforting

It was after hours, and the kagami-biraki ceremony had finished.
The workplace suddenly became lively.
That's because our boss brought in some retort-pouch zenzai as a treat.

During the New Year, a large kagami-mochi was displayed on the office shelf.
Well, as you know, modern kagami-mochi are just filled with pre-packaged rice cakes.

And for me, this is the second time I've experienced the kagami-biraki at this workplace.
If I recall, last year, the boss at the time just took the rice cakes out of the kagami-mochi and handed them out to the female employees, and that was it.

However, this year was completely different.

Large paper cups.
Disposable chopsticks.
The boss even brought in a tray he uses at home that allows you to soften rice cakes in the microwave.

The workplace instantly turned into a zenzai festival venue.

Someone opened the retort packs of zenzai.
Someone poured them into paper cups.
Someone heated the rice cakes in the microwave.
Someone prepared the chopsticks and handed them out to each desk.

Everyone was smiling naturally.

In the middle of it, a boss from another branch suddenly appeared on business.

"Mr./Ms. [Name], would you like some kagami-biraki zenzai too?"

Someone immediately went to take their order.

"Oh? I can have some too? Well then, I'll take mine without the rice cake!"

Even such a picky order could be accommodated.


After a while, the workplace began to be filled with a sweet aroma.

Everyone started eating their zenzai at their own desks.
The zenzai festival lasted less than 30 minutes.

But the atmosphere was clearly different from last year.

I am grateful for the boss's thoughtfulness.
(By the way, this boss is the same person who brought us roasted sweet potatoes and cake at the end of the year.)

It might be a bit of an extra expense for the boss, but because of that thoughtfulness, we naturally feel like we want to repay them with our work performance.

In fact, it's interesting that since this boss took over, we have consistently met our monthly targets.

The younger boss we had before seemed to only have performance on their mind, and they were someone who did nothing but criticize during morning meetings.
Criticism from the morning really just lowered everyone's morale, and nothing good ever came of it.
(We never met our monthly targets either...)

But since this current boss arrived, with their daily treats, our morale has only gone up, never down.

This peaceful time is comforting.
It has also become much easier to make work requests, and the communication has improved.


It's just a small thing, but...


This kind of atmosphere has a positive influence on everyone's motivation toward work.

Now then, Valentine's Day is waiting next month.

It will be our first Valentine's Day with the boss who is always treating us.
Repaying them with work results is of course good, but I want all the female employees to give them something delicious as a gift to make them happy.

With gratitude in my heart for being able to work in such a comfortable workplace, I will do my best at work again starting tomorrow.
