#7 Giving up means accepting
"Giving up."
This phrase has a somewhat negative image, doesn't it?
But in reality, I think giving up is actually about "accepting."
An event that made me realize this.

In a lecture I attended as part of new employee training at my company,
there was a topic called "Can you see the gap between who you want to be and who you are now?"
Certainly, to grow, having clear goals or targets makes it easier to see
the path to get there,
and what you need to do and how to work hard at it.
But at the time, I was in an unfamiliar environment,
surrounded by work I didn't understand,
and I couldn't do my job well at all...
I was cornering myself, thinking I had to work harder to become useful quickly...
That was when I had this lecture on gaps.
It felt like I was being forced to face my own incompetence even more.
How long would it take for me to be able to finish everything efficiently
and be recognized as a capable employee?...
Just as I was feeling that way,
I came across the words of a YouTuber who said, "Giving up is about accepting yourself and your current situation."
Suddenly, I thought,
It's okay if I don't become that ideal version of myself.
I tried giving up on that.
Then, suddenly, I felt like my heart became lighter.
When you're not feeling well, you don't have to force yourself to run. Just as you rest when your body catches a cold,
you should let your heart rest if it's tired.
Who would ever tell someone lying in bed with a high fever,
"If you try hard enough, you can run!"
The heart is the same.
The only thing
that makes it tricky is that mental distress is hard to see.
That's why it's important to properly examine yourself.
Of course, looking at the gap between your ideal self and your environment
is by no means a bad thing.
But only do it when your heart is healthy.
You don't have to force yourself to keep chasing ideals;
it's okay to give up a little.
Yes, by giving up, I was able to accept myself.
If you give up and still want to head toward your ideal,
you can just start walking again at that time.
Besides,
perhaps beyond what you gave up on,
you might find a new path.
The possibilities are endless.
