The costume rental experience in Dihua Street that I enjoyed with a friend
I was finally able to take my friend out
The typhoon finally passed, and I was able to take my friend out
Yesterday, we went to Dadaocheng and Dihua Street as we had planned
We did a costume rental experience there
When I first went to Dihua Street, I saw women wearing Chinese dresses taking pictures amidst the old streetscape
At first, I just thought,
"Oh, they are doing a photoshoot because it's this kind of old streetscape"
that was about all I thought
But as I watched, I noticed that it wasn't just young women, but older women were also wearing costumes and taking pictures
"What is this?"
I wondered, so I looked it up a bit after I got home
The costume rental experience you can do in Dihua Street
When I looked it up, it was an experience where you can rent costumes and take pictures in the streetscape
It might be similar to renting a kimono in Kyoto and walking around the city
But what surprised me was that this is a service that you can do for free
You do need to sign up
There are morning and afternoon sessions, and the number of people is limited
So you have to sign up early, but
"I'd like to try this once"
I thought
Since a friend of mine was coming from Japan right around that time,
I thought, "Since we're here, let's sign up for it,"
and decided to make a reservation.
Renting costumes with ID and a deposit
On the day, you bring your passport or ID,
leave a cash deposit, and rent the costumes.
Women choose dress-like costumes.
I wore a men's costume.
It actually looks quite cool.
Furthermore, you can also rent one accessory.
Having an accessory in addition to the costume really adds to the atmosphere of the photos.
Photo spots are also provided
Inside the building, there are also photo spots prepared.
They have properly set up what you might call 'Instagrammable' spots, where you can take pictures.

Wearing the costume with the background all set up, it really creates a great atmosphere.
Of course, it's possible to go outside and take pictures, not just in that spot.
There are many shops lined up, so you can take photos or go shopping.
The time is about an hour and a half.
It was just the right amount of time.
My first real tourist-like experience.
To be honest, I have never rented costumes at a tourist spot to take pictures before.
So, this was my first time.
At first I felt a little shy, but once I tried it, it was fun.
We also took a lot of photos.
My friend and my wife both enjoyed it too.
Since we couldn't go out much due to the typhoon, I'm glad we were finally able to have a typical Taiwanese experience together.
A great place to take friends.
After trying it this time, I thought I would definitely want to take any friends who visit Taiwan here in the future.
Taiwanese-style streets, Chinese-style costumes, and photo spots.
And shopping and strolling around Dihua Street.
I think it's quite enjoyable as a tourist activity.
Thank you for reading until the end🙏🏼
See you next time👋🏼
