[Dismantling] SUBMARINE ERA [New Book]
There is a saying: "Let it flow away with the water."
What a convenient, magical phrase it is—to simply pretend that past conflicts and troubles never happened. I think I have lived my life quite carefree, letting many events flow away with the water, or perhaps being carried along by the current myself.
Surprisingly, this "flushing power" feels different from just being forgetful; it could even be rephrased as "a talent for living happily." And "pressure" is important. Momentum is important. If the water pressure in a hotel shower while I'm traveling is underwhelming, my mood drops instantly. By the way, I think this every time I travel abroad, but I really think Japan's plumbing is the best (I'm a TOTO fan myself).
I've completely digressed, but
——Well.
When a live concert where we had already played up to the 17th song literally got washed away, I did hold my head in my hands (the cause was a burst water pipe).
After finishing various responses, I returned home and lay motionless on the sofa. I watched helplessly as the timeline of discussions with the staff team about the rescheduled performance flowed by.
……Well, yeah, that's how it goes, isn't it.
But you know, if you think about it carefully, looking only at the numbers, we had already played 17 out of the 25 songs we were originally scheduled to perform. 17/25. I feel like I worked a fair amount, right? I was definitely tired enough for one whole concert! (I thought to myself for a split second)
No, wait a minute.
What if this were a drama or a movie? You scatter the foreshadowing, the climax is finally here, time to tie it all together, time for the big plot twist! And then—it ends.
……Well, yeah, that's how it goes, isn't it.
⸻
After that, the rescheduled performance was planned and held successfully.
Even so, the people who came had to pay for transportation again, and if they came from far away, there were accommodation costs too. Also, on our end, we can't ask the staff to work for free just to make one concert happen.
I must get my money's worth out of this event no matter what (inner voice speaking loudly)!
In times like these, BIGMAMA is the type to never fall down without getting something out of it. And so, the events of that day took on a new form as a song.
⸻
Returning to the subject, pressure is important (second time).
Momentum is important.
With high-attack guitar riffs and a beautiful violin tone that seems to snuggle up to you only to cut through you, please let yourself be swallowed by the wave-like attack of BIGMAMA's sound pressure. Mosh pit recommended. I borrowed the name of the submarine directly from the name of the live house.
Every time I play this song, I'm sure I'll remember that day.
