Dawn of Symbiosis #138 Chapter 26 Section 2: Overseas Delegation to City A - Serial Novel
The first place the overseas delegation visited was City A, a medium-sized city located on the coast of southern Kanto, Japan.
This location, which could be called the origin of the "City Circle" concept, was the initial implementation area for Aya/Yura, and it was now known as a "symbiotic city" where human connections were woven into daily life.
An hour and a half by bus from the airport.
Stepping off at the station, where the scent of the sea breeze mingled in the air, the members of the delegation felt a quiet sense of surprise at the scenery they were seeing for the first time.
An elderly woman passing by smiled and said "thank you" to a young man cleaning the street, and the young man replied by lightly raising his smartphone.
On the terrace of a cafe, strangers casually kept an eye on each other's belongings, and as they opened their Yura screens, "thank yous" were recorded.
The delegation was welcomed by young bureaucrats involved in City A's regional management and a group of citizen volunteers.
At the center were Rei, who had long been dedicated to spreading the philosophy of Aya/Yura, and his partner, Yumi.
"This is less of a 'system' and more of a 'culture'."
Rei said this at the first meeting with the delegation.
"When someone acts for the sake of another, they are thanked. That becomes 'visible.' That is all it is. However, we have believed that this 'all' has the power to change the world."
Yumi introduced case studies of its implementation in educational settings.
"Children become more interested in 'giving' thank yous than in 'collecting' them. They start to pay attention to the awareness and kindness of others. That changes the very atmosphere of the classroom."
Many in the delegation were involved in welfare, education, and administration, and they could not hide their surprise.
"This is not technology. Human relationships themselves have become the foundation of society..."
One representative from Southeast Asia muttered this.
At the end of the meeting, Rei and Yumi joined the delegation members for some modest tea and snacks.
Even if words were not perfectly understood, everyone felt something in the smiles, nods, and short, warm "thank yous" that were exchanged.
What they saw in this place...
It was not grand technology or complex system design.
It was simply a small, certain light: that "when people are treated as people and trusted, daily life becomes kinder."
